Volume 1, Chapter 24: Singing in Harmony
When I entered Shen Yixiao’s private elevator, Lu Xiaoyun was already inside. She was clutching a bouquet of pink roses, nearly identical to mine, save for the color. From the same shop, the same type of flower—which one of us was Shen Yixiao merely humoring?
"Mr. Shen, Madam," Lu Xiaoyun greeted us proactively. A woman in love carries a certain gentleness in her features, a vibrant, spirited air. For a fleeting second, her gaze met Shen Yixiao’s. I, a mere mortal, somehow perceived the clash of sparks between them, as if my third eye had suddenly been opened.
"Secretary Lu, off the clock now?" Shen Yixiao’s tone was lukewarm, just like a standard boss to his subordinate... Back in Yue City, Yao Fei had been with her, so if the Zhou family wanted to investigate, it would be easy enough to find out.
Opening her weary eyes, Murong Qingwan felt as though her body had been hollowed out. She reached up to rub her aching forehead, only to find her right hand held tightly by someone, unable to pull free. Tang Luo had originally intended to chat with Tan Rongyi, but given this attitude, he hung up the phone directly.
"Oh! Hearing you say that, Sister Tinglan, my right ear really does feel a bit warm. No, it must be White Wolf thinking of me! I must go find him." Always impulsive, Snow White jumped up, ready to run.
"She is the top girl at the Lanyue Pavilion, the busiest spot in Qing City. Her name is... Yue Qingque..." the man replied tremblingly, terrified that this noble prince might take his head on a whim.
In truth, the method of creating an external avatar is no secret in the Immortal Realm. Yet, most people do not practice it. The reason is simple: to complete a clone, one must infuse half of one’s own cultivation into it. Furthermore, the more precious the materials used, the greater the potential the avatar possesses. However, she had no intention of wading into these muddy waters herself; she would have to find someone with more influence before the Emperor.
His medical skills, however, were clearly lacking, for while he was treating Bu Zhanhu, the man died on the spot.
"Wanwan..." Xiao Changque reached out to touch her cheek, but suddenly realized his hands were covered in scars. Just as he tried to pull back, she grabbed him tightly. "I will remember that these scars were earned for my sake." She knew, of course, why he carved day and night—it was to keep her most beautiful image etched in his memory.
Ye Weirui was accustomed to her own arrogance and could not bear to be called ugly. Taunted to her face by Shui Jueshu, she could no longer restrain herself. She snatched up the coconut bowl in front of her and, across the table, prepared to hurl it at Shui Jueshu.
Hearing Yan Yifeng’s description, Ling Luoqi was reminded of a similar experience she seemed to have had in the past.
This time, it appeared quite serious. Though it wasn't constant, the intermittent pain was unbearable. Fortunately, by evening, it finally eased—or perhaps I simply had no time to focus on my stomach, as they finally began to discuss my marriage.
She couldn't wait to pick up a piece of osmanthus cake and stuff it into her mouth, her cheeks bulging as she chewed carefully.
Suddenly, the atmosphere in the sky stirred, and a powerful force manifested out of thin air. At the same time, a hazy phantom appeared around Master Tongxuan. Xiran’s face was pale; she felt a flicker of fear, but forced herself to remain calm.
"Cut his clothes open! He’s been shot; we need to remove the bullet!" Chu Shaoling instructed me in a low voice, showing no signs of panic.
The white car suddenly erupted in waves of fire, the flames reflecting in her eyes, filled with smoke. For a moment, she couldn't process what was happening, staring blankly as the white car incinerated, her brain devoid of any capacity for reaction or thought.
In the backyard of the Lin family palace, the Phoenix Blood Spear took flight. Augmented by Spirit Control arts, the spear seemed to possess a soul of its own. It nimbly sliced off a willow leaf, its tip gleaming, and in an instant, Lin Ming carved intricate lace patterns into the leaf, with a vivid, lifelike phoenix etched in the center.
Chu Yan was frail and couldn't walk far, so Yan Wanru had someone find her a wheelchair. As she sat in it, her gaze drifted, and her hand couldn't help but stroke the armrest; so this was what it felt like to be in a wheelchair.
Le Ya’s ex-husband was also surnamed Xie. Her marriage to Xie Zhengyi made things convenient, as there was no need to change Xie Anle’s surname. Xie Yaochen knew about this; Qin Huaizhi had a training room here for morning exercises.
She hadn't noticed before, but as Lu Yu held a handful of paper dolls, she could smell a faint scent of blood wafting from her hands.
Lei Yun, of course, sensed the terrifying energy aimed at him and furrowed his brow. The giant golden python surged forward in one breath, opening its blood-stained maw to bite down on the head of the True Dragon of Lightning.
Xu Fan couldn't help but murmur softly, sensing that the spiritual energy within him had surged just a fraction.
The Young Master practiced blade techniques. Once he drew his sword, it meant his heart was filled with lethal intent.
One stall after another lined the sides of the street, vendors shouting energetically to the pedestrians and tourists passing by. Some even began to regret their choices; had they known the Master of Tianlong Peak was so excellent, they should have apprenticed there from the start.
Shivering, Qi Shao hurriedly shook his head, desperate to cast Xie Yaochen—name and all—out of his mind, not daring to dwell on him for a second longer.
Huang Yun took the slap, and five bruised finger marks instantly swelled on her lovely face as blood spilled from the corner of her mouth. She looked up at her brother, no tears in her eyes; that cold, icy stare made Huang Kui feel like he was sitting on pins and needles.
In truth, how complex can a person’s gaze really be? More often than not, it is merely one’s own psyche playing tricks.
"Strange..." Guo Jia and Mi Heng rubbed their chins in deep thought for a long time, but could find no clue, and they were forced to give up.
On the other side, the man in silver armor tossed his silver spear backward, and it landed perfectly beside his white horse. He then drew the sword from his waist; the blade was slender and possessed a clear, lucid luster—it was undoubtedly a fine weapon.
Dongfang Hongri’s brows shot up upon hearing this. He caught a glimpse of Jiao Feng’s retreating figure, a flash of brilliance in his eyes, and suddenly called out loudly, "Hero Jiao, please stay your step!" As he spoke, a breeze blew by, shaking the peach blossoms from the trees.
"This—how is this possible? Chen’er, where did you buy this apple?" Mother Ying asked, looking at her precious son while she ate.
It turned out that when they awoke, they found themselves in an obscure valley within the Nameless Valley. Looking at the starlit sky and breathing the fresh air—devoid of the stench of sulfur and filled instead with the scent of rotting plants and soil—they suddenly felt that they were, indeed, still alive.
After speaking, he felt his question had been superfluous. The name of the Qingyi Tower was renowned throughout the martial arts world; with several of them appearing at once, nothing could be hidden under their watchful eyes. It was only natural that they had been discovered.
