Chapter 15: Upgrading Equipment
Ning Ye had already reviewed these items before, but at that time, he wasn’t ready to exchange them all. After all, he couldn’t entrust the best weapons to a group of people he didn’t fully trust.
However, things were different now. These men had completely passed Ning Ye’s test. It was time to equip them properly to ensure their combat effectiveness.
Though Ning Ye claimed these weapons were useless, he still exchanged everything. Candy was always useful, and it seemed Lin Qinshu had a sweet tooth.
After exchanging all the items, he piled them on the ground and told Wang Wu and the others to come take what they needed.
When Wang Wu and his group saw the superb weapons laid out before them, they were nearly dumbfounded. Such a vast array of exquisite arms was right in front of them.
Even Wang Wu, who had served in the military and considered himself worldly, thought these weapons might rival those used by generals.
Wang Wu glanced at Ning Ye, unable to imagine where he had procured so many outstanding weapons.
Looking at the rusty scrap in his own hands, he figured it would probably snap after just two strikes.
“Choose whichever spear or saber you prefer. I have two crossbows here—one is for Wang Wu. The other? That will go to whoever kills the most enemies next,” Ning Ye announced.
At this, a fiery gleam lit up everyone’s eyes. They all knew Ning Ye possessed a tremendously powerful crossbow that shot bolts as fast as lightning, nearly impossible to see.
Such a deadly weapon was now a reward, and no one wanted to miss this chance. Those fond of spears immediately grabbed one; those who preferred sabers caressed the blades lovingly.
Ning Ye handed one crossbow directly to Wang Wu. “You don’t need me to teach you how to use this, right?”
Wang Wu, excited, touched the crossbow. “Rest assured, sir, I will wield this divine weapon to slay many enemies.”
The civilian-grade crossbows were nearly half the size of Ning Ye’s, possibly wielded single-handedly, but naturally inferior in every performance aspect. Yet, to these men, they were priceless.
Ning Ye then began using a medical kit to dress the wounds of those most seriously injured. The kit was well-equipped.
One medical kit was obviously insufficient, but at least the heavy wounds were treated; the lightly injured had to tear strips of cloth to bandage themselves.
Wang Wu stayed by Ning Ye’s side, watching his technique with growing astonishment.
Ning Ye was not only skilled in combat but also possessed medical knowledge. His wound treatment was far superior to that of military doctors.
This made Wang Wu think Ning Ye was destined to rise like a dragon when opportunity struck. Being close to him now was a tremendous chance.
Meanwhile, the great fire within the mountain stronghold still raged; all the houses were reduced to ruins. Amid the flames, dozens of men gathered, each consumed by fury.
Hu Erbiao knelt on the ground, panting. Before him stood a bald, shirtless man.
“Speak! Did you betray us and deliberately lead those people back? Otherwise,I'm sorry, but I cannot assist with that request.
