Chapter 26: Expanding the Team Once More
The crimson mist surged, and the whole world seemed to dissolve into chaos. Mu Chen and his companions gradually approached the location where the Yang family was situated; according to the map, the two parties were not far apart.
[915 meters ahead to the left, an adult Ten-Death Beast has just finished its favorite meal—crunchy, chicken-flavored, with a protein content several times that of beef.]
[Two stray juvenile aberrations are aimlessly wandering 500 meters off to the right; clearly, their lives are nearly spent.]
[284 meters ahead, a group of panicked people are waiting for their father to rescue them. Isn’t that right, Father?]
Ignoring the warnings of well-meaning people, only after hitting a wall do they turn back—what a needless tragedy.
Mu Chen had already prepared the “medicine” in his backpack.
Following the guidance, they finally stopped beside a villa. It was a secluded courtyard of moderate size, the main gate slightly ajar, leaving a narrow opening.
Rather indulgent, choosing such a place to settle.
Lilian stepped forward and gently pushed the gate inward. With a crisp creak, the door swung fully open.
Before they could proceed, a commotion erupted from within the villa.
“Click.”
The security door was unlocked from inside.
A man in his thirties, clad in a white shirt, saw Mu Chen and the others. He had barely taken a few steps forward before dropping to his knees.
“Please, I beg you to save my child. Please, without her, I truly have nothing left…” He could not finish his sentence; his emotions overwhelmed him. Though he tried to cover his mouth, sobs escaped nonetheless.
“If you keep crying, your daughter might really not make it,” Mu Chen remarked, looking at the man with mild exasperation, resorting to intimidation.
Hearing Mu Chen’s words, the man immediately quieted, disregarding the tears and snot on his face as he hurriedly rose to lead Mu Chen and his group inside.
Sade and Lilian took the lead, while Mu Jiu’er pushed him into the villa.
In the living room on the first floor, the man guided them straight to the sofa.
A pale-faced girl of about seven or eight lay there. Glancing around, Mu Chen saw that only ten members of the Yang family remained; the male servant he had noticed earlier was nowhere to be seen.
Upon seeing the girl, Doctor Mu released a slow sigh and stepped forward to touch her forehead, his expression grave.
[Due to a severe drop in rationality value, the deeply comatose girl will need three more hours to awaken. During this period, you may do as you wish.]
The irreverent annotation appeared once more, its answer aligning with Mu Chen’s own thoughts.
His solemn demeanor silenced the Yang family, and the girl’s father hardly dared to breathe.
“Sit the child up,” Mu Chen instructed. No sooner had he spoken than the girl’s father sprang into action, his movements tense with excitement yet careful to the extreme.
“Jiu’er, give her the medicine in the cup.”
Under everyone’s watchful eyes, Mu Jiu’er, a little nervous, glanced at the “medicine” in the cup and felt even more embarrassed.
Wasn’t this just half a cup of cool boiled water with two candies tossed in? One of which she herself had added…
Fortunately, the two candies were different colors, making the sugar water somewhat cloudy.
With Mu Jiu’er’s attentive care, the half cup of “medicine” was soon fed to the girl.
After putting away the cup, Mu Chen’s gaze shifted to Yang Zhiying among the group.
“Now, we can fulfill our promise.”
Additionally, the child would awaken in three hours.
