A Note on Publication

Unwittingly, it has been three and a half years since I started writing.

For an online fiction author, the most painful thing is not grinding away at the keyboard until tendonitis or cervical pain flares up, not losing your hair until people start calling you “big brother,” not lying awake all night plotting the story, and not even a troll or two coming after you with relentless fire.

It is that you happen to have a little bit of talent, enough to win the liking of a small group of readers, enough to make you covet the palace reserved for the masters, yet you have no right to step inside.

You stand at the door and watch the masters come and go. You pour everything you have into your effort every single day, yet you still cannot draw near that threshold. All you can do is catch a glimpse of the light within whenever the door opens.

Is that the greatest regret?

Is that the greatest blow?

No.

It is more than that.

Because from inside the door, there is always a sigh, or a casual complaint.

“Only ten thousand first-day subscriptions after going premium, and I’ve flopped again!”

“This month’s royalties just reached one hundred thousand, and I really do not feel like writing anymore. I have no motivation at all!”

“Is there any game worth spending money on? I save every month and barely spend anything. Even investing has lost its novelty, and I do not want to travel either. Someone recommend one to me. No need for spas, yachts, or pretty young companions!”

One blow after another left Snowy too afraid to speak. Looking at the wallet that had been reduced to nothing but bills, she could only sit honestly at the computer and keep fighting every day.

Hard work can make up for clumsiness. I hope all you dear readers, brothers and sisters, and fellow book lovers will be kind enough to spare Snowy a bowl of rice.

Back to the point: let’s talk about going premium.

Since the book was released on September 6, forty-seven days have passed in total, and tomorrow at 12:10 noon it will finally go premium.

On launch day there will be five updates, about thirteen thousand words in total. After that, I plan to keep up ten-thousand-word updates for seven consecutive days for now, though how long that continues and how many there will be will depend on Snowy’s condition.

For a new book, first-day subscriptions are the most important thing. They determine whether the book lives or dies, so I humbly beg for your first-day subscription support and will be deeply grateful.

As for the regular updates after launch, dear readers need not worry. Although Snowy is not a full-time writer, her reputation for updates is still solid. Anyone who has read my older books knows that even during the pandemic, I went more than two months without a single day off and never missed an update.

Besides, Snowy has no boyfriend and does not enjoy socializing. Apart from work, writing is her only hobby, so she still has plenty of time for it.

As for this book, the outline alone runs to more than ten thousand words, not counting all the settings and the power system. The worldbuilding has been prepared extremely thoroughly, and the story has only just begun.

So dear readers, please do not worry that the pace will be too fast or that the story will end too soon. The plot has only just begun to unfold, and what comes next will be even more exciting!
