When Li Can stepped out of the private room, he resembled a god of war—his presence fierce and intimidating. The oppressive atmosphere was so intense that none of the diners dared to make a sound. No one knew better than they did how the entire scene had unfolded. Alone, Li Can had strode into Zhao Gang’s territory, brushed past the waitstaff’s attempts to stop him, kicked the private room door off its hinges, made a scene inside, and then swaggered out as if nothing had happened, leaving behind a figure to be admired.
“Who is he?”
“No idea, never seen him around Old Street.”
“I heard he’s the new chef at the Neighbor’s Kitchen.”
“Chefs can act so overbearing?”

The streetlights along the sidewalk had begun to dim, and fewer pedestrians were about. Li Can had no idea that, without knowing it, he had etched himself into people’s memories. “But maybe it’s for the best,” he thought, “Now the conflict is out in the open. If Zhao Gang isn’t satisfied, he’ll come after me and won’t trouble the restaurant anymore.” Li Can let out a long breath, feeling a weight lifted from his shoulders.
“Li Can!” a familiar voice called from ahead.
Looking up, he saw Su Rui running toward him, her face ful
