Chapter Six: Only One Room Left for the Guest

At dawn, the sun rose on the horizon, its fiery red rays illuminating the earth, symbolizing the beginning of a new day.
In front of the city gate of Yingtian City, Yun Yi had arrived with Lei Ling’er. Lei Ling’er stared blankly at the towering city walls, dumbfounded.
“Hey, are you two going to enter the city or not?”
Just as Yun Yi and Lei Ling’er focused on the walls, a dissatisfied voice rang out.
“We’re going in! Of course we are!” Lei Ling’er hurriedly said, pulling Yun Yi forward.
“Hold on!”
“What’s wrong?” Lei Ling’er looked at the guard with a puzzled expression.
The guard glanced them up and down, sneered disdainfully at their worn clothes and dirty faces, then stretched out his hand and said sideways:
“Entry fee, ten gold coins.”
“Are you robbing us? Why doesn’t he have to pay?” Lei Ling’er angrily pointed at a wealthy young nobleman nearby.
“That one? He’s Mr. Mou from the Mou family of Yingtian City! Who do you think you are?”
Hearing this, Mou Qian turned his head toward the two, looked at their shabby clothes and filthy faces, then suddenly burst out laughing, pointing at them mockingly:
“Hahaha! Country bumpkins, you think everyone’s like you? You reek of poverty!”
“You—” Lei Ling’er was instantly indignant, but large hands grabbed her from behind.
“Ling’er, how many times have I told you? If a dog bites you, don’t bite back,” Yun Yi said without even glancing at Mou Qian, lecturing Lei Ling’er as if using Mou Qian as a negative example.
“That’s it! This outsider is finished!”
“Who doesn’t know Mou Qian is a spoiled brat who’s above the law? Who dares offend him?”
With these words, the people behind Yun Yi whispered among themselves, watching Yun Yi and Mou Qian.
“You! Damn it, no one’s ever called me a dog since I was born! I’ll rip your mouth apart!”
Mou Qian suddenly flew into a rage. A bodyguard with a cultivation level of Qi Refining Stage Seven lunged at Yun Yi.
Yun Yi looked at this idiot, kicked the bodyguard flying with one kick, then took a swift step forward and casually grabbed Mou Qian.
“Smack!”
After one slap, before Mou Qian could react, Yun Yi kicked him away and, holding Lei Ling’er’s hand, strode into the city.
Everything happened in a flash. The onlookers were stunned; it was the first time in many years that Mou Qian had been beaten.
Even the gate guards were shocked. Being only at Qi Refining Stage Five, they were no match for Yun Yi and dared not intervene.
“Ah! Chase after them! Trash! Trash! Worthless trash!”

Mou Qian struggled to his feet, angrily cursing at the bodyguard and guards on the ground.
Meanwhile, Yun Yi didn’t dare to stop. Taking advantage of the fact that Mou Qian hadn’t memorized their faces, he quickly ran toward the crowded area, leaving Mou Qian stomping his feet in place!
“Kid, the big shots all know who you are! I swear I’m going to kill you!” Mou Qian shouted loudly in the middle of the street, attracting a crowd’s attention, but most covered their mouths to laugh and hurried away.
Yun Yi was unaware of all this. At this moment, he had already taken Lei Ling’er to an inn.
“Boss, two rooms!” Yun Yi said sincerely, holding up two fingers.
The innkeeper smiled slightly, his large mustache curling up. Seeing the gold coins and Yun Yi’s gesture, he gave a knowing look and slowly said:
“Sorry, sir, tomorrow is the enrollment exam for Yingtian Academy. There is only one room left now.”
“?”
“Really none left!”
Yun Yi anxiously said.
“Nice act,” the innkeeper thought to himself but kept a serious expression and said, “Sir, truly only one room remains.”
Yun Yi: “...”
“Shall we look somewhere else?” Yun Yi looked at Lei Ling’er and scratched his head awkwardly.
“Most places will be full these days. Let’s just stay here,” Lei Ling’er thought for a moment and said seriously.
“Uh, alright then!” Yun Yi responded helplessly, took the key, and went upstairs with Lei Ling’er.
Looking back at the innkeeper while going upstairs, Yun Yi’s face was full of disbelief, but the innkeeper gave him a thumbs-up in response.
“...”
After showering and changing clothes, Yun Yi originally wanted to practice cultivation and try to break through the ninth level of Qi Refining, but he couldn’t resist Lei Ling’er’s persistent coaxing and reluctantly accompanied her shopping.
Along the way, Lei Ling’er chattered nonstop, looking at this and that, lively as a little sprite.
“Brother Yi, do you think this looks good?”
“Yes, it looks good!”
“And this?”
“Looks good!”
“Good!”
...
By evening, the exhausted Yun Yi returned to the inn with the energetic Lei Ling’er. That whole afternoon felt like a year of cultivation; he was utterly worn out!
Later, as they prepared to rest, a problem arose.
There was only one bed. How would they sleep?

Facing this dilemma, Yun Yi began to show his masculine pride and said to Lei Ling’er seriously:
“Ling’er, you sleep on the bed. I’ll meditate and cultivate through the night, so I can pass the exam more easily tomorrow.”
“Uh! Brother Yi, you should sleep. You’ve been tired all day and need proper rest!” Lei Ling’er looked at the tired Yun Yi, feeling shy as she spoke.
“It’s fine, it’s fine. I’ll feel refreshed after a night of cultivation.”
“Then... how about we sleep together?”
Lei Ling’er blushed, lowered her head, and whispered to Yun Yi.
“Uh, uh, uh! Forget it, you sleep first! Ling’er, don’t argue with me!”
Faced with Yun Yi’s stern tone, Lei Ling’er showed a trace of grievance, responded softly with “Oh~,” then turned away without looking back.
Yun Yi: “?”
Once he confirmed Lei Ling’er was truly asleep, Yun Yi’s mind stirred, and in a flash, he entered the Flame Yellow Jade.
“Phew! I need to learn more martial skills! When facing opponents of the same rank, martial arts really are the key.”
Yun Yi murmured to himself and began reviewing.
Since childhood, Yun Yi had loved reading, especially about cultivation and martial arts. He had studied all the martial techniques stored in the Yun family treasury and memorized them. Sometimes, Yun Yi had to admit that talent truly mattered!
In one night, Yun Yi fully mastered three martial arts: Soaring Cloud Step, Fierce Tiger Fist, and Mountain Shattering Strike. This was all thanks to his photographic memory and unparalleled comprehension.
After practicing these techniques, Yun Yi used the remaining time to meditate, circulating the Flame Yellow Art, absorbing the spiritual energy of heaven and earth to aid his breakthrough to the ninth level of Qi Refining.
The night passed quickly. Yun Yi emerged from the Flame Yellow Jade before Lei Ling’er awoke, stretched his waist, and, seeing her sleepy eyes, felt elated because he had successfully broken through to the ninth level of Qi Refining.
“Brother Yun! You broke through!”
Seeing Yun Yi’s aura different from before, Lei Ling’er instantly became alert and asked in disbelief.
Yun Yi smiled modestly, “Just a lucky break.”
Lei Ling’er gave him a side-eye and said gloomily, “Comparing yourself to others is infuriating. You’re only one year older than me, and I’m at Qi Refining Stage Six, but you’re almost foundation establishment!”
Lei Ling’er’s unhappiness lasted until they left the inn, but once outside, she resumed her spree of buying things, her mood lifted.
Watching the lively girl, Yun Yi’s face darkened as he recalled the innkeeper’s knowing smile.
Suddenly, a loud, rough voice echoed over the entire Yingtian City:
“Those participating in the Yingtian Academy enrollment exam, please gather at Yingtian Square!”
Hearing this, Lei Ling’er and Yun Yi exchanged glances and set off running toward Yingtian Square!
