Chapter 8: Roll Around Inside the Tiger's Belly!
Page (1/3)
Thinking of having a rabbit feast, seven or eight players pounced together and successfully captured and killed a wild rabbit—though it was actually crushed to death.
This group of city dwellers were hunting animals in the forest for the first time; initially, they were understandably flustered, resulting in chaotic commotion.
Fortunately, they later mastered hunting skills—though that was impossible!
It was merely the overwhelming numbers that overcame these little creatures’ attacks.
Hilarious! How could modern people possibly survive and hunt in the wild?
“What’s that? A wild pheasant! Quick, quick! Wild pheasant roasted or stewed in soup is delicious! Everyone, come!”
“Here we come, our chicken soup, almost ready to taste!”
Lan Ling and Xiao Mo led a group of players rushing in, but unfortunately, the wild pheasant could fly. Under their stunned gazes, it flapped its wings and flew away.
“Ahhh! The chicken soup flew away, chase it!”
The players chased the wild pheasant for a long time, breaking into a sweat.
The pheasant dodged left and right with tricky moves; just when they nearly caught it, it flapped its wings and took flight again. Xiao Mo ended up face-planting in the mud.
“Ouch, that hurts!” She rubbed her chin, grimacing—this game was very realistic, so it really hurt. How could this muddy ground be so hard!
Lan Ling reached out to help her up. As they looked up, they saw the wild pheasant strutting toward them, tilting its head with a look of disdain.
What? Disdain? Even a chicken was looking down on me?
The two women were furious and charged again. The wild pheasant soared into the air, and as it landed, it even wagged its tail defiantly at the players.
“Ahhh! This is intolerable!” Now truly provoking everyone’s anger, the players stopped chasing and instead, a group of a dozen or so drew bows and aimed at the pheasant.
The players confidently drew their bows, recalling archery scenes from historical dramas, looking gallant and full of spirit!
Nearby, a player gathering food was happily picking mushrooms with a bamboo basket. The wild mushrooms gave off a special fragrance.
“This smells amazing!” He was enchanted. These little things were beautiful, each with a unique shape.
Looking at the colorful, pretty mushrooms in his basket and savoring the scent, he couldn’t resist and popped the most attractive one into his mouth.
“Wow, this tastes incredible!” The man’s eyes lit up as if fireworks exploded before him.
This flavor was unlike the market mushrooms or enoki mushrooms—fresh wild mushrooms were exquisitely delicious, even better than shrimp, with a captivating fragrance.
He squinted his eyes, savoring the aroma, then glanced toward the dozen players with bows drawn.
They released their arrows with great confidence—dozens of arrows whistled through the air.
Closer, closer! But without exception… all the arrows missed!
Yes, not a single arrow hit its mark.
Generally, with so many arrows, at least one would accidentally hit, but all missed—quite the feat! Let’s applaud the players!
The pheasant, very human-like, wagged its tail and rolled its eyes.
Silence followed. Xiao Mo scratched her head awkwardly, and the players whistled nonchalantly, pretending nothing happened.
If they didn’t feel embarrassed, then the embarrassment was on others.
Having never handled bows before, missing every shot was normal!
Besides, no one else was around to see. As long as nobody mentioned it, it never happened.
A group of people embarrassed—if they didn’t say a word, it was as if it never occurred. Exactly like that.
“Hahaha, forgive my bluntness, but everyone here is trash! Can’t even catch a chicken and yet get looked down upon—hahaha!” A brazen laugh rang out.
The hunting players turned to see the player holding the mushrooms, pointing and laughing wildly.
That player laughed until his stomach hurt. The others exchanged glances, eyes cold with fury, and surrounded him. “He saw everything, we can’t keep him!”
“Exactly, it’s too embarrassing. Let’s kill him!”
Player: ???
“Hey, hey, what are you guys doing!”
“Goodbye, don’t get too cocky next time!” They closed in, ready to send him to the respawn point, but the player suddenly shouted, “Ouch, that hurts!”
“Hm? Playing dumb?”
A few seconds later, the male player lay on the ground, lifeless, his body turning into a white light and disappearing.
Everyone was dumbfounded. They hadn’t even touched him yet—how did he die? Fake death? Why did he respawn just now?
“Whatever, the wild mushrooms he picked will be our reward!” A player cheerfully grabbed the bamboo basket.
Seeing the wild mushrooms looked good and smelled fragrant, he picked one and popped it into his mouth.

“Let’s go, let’s keep chasing that wild pheasant—I don’t believe it!” Xiao Mo pouted, and the group set off again.
“Ah!” Another scream—this time the player carrying the basket collapsed and vanished.
Everyone: “…” Another death? This is crazy!
Lan Ling pointed at the basket silently: “Could it be that some wild mushrooms are poisonous?”
Everyone suddenly realized—right, surviving in the wild is tough; they almost forgot that wild mushrooms could be toxic.
In the end, the troublemaking wild pheasant didn’t remain arrogant for long and became the players’ prey.
Since the arrows missed, they just grabbed bows and charged, beating it to death!
Su Qingyue, using the system’s god’s-eye view, observed the players’ antics.
Though amusing, neither she nor the system found much humor in it.
“System, they can’t even catch a chicken!”
The system chuckled nervously: “Hahaha, it should be fine. Modern people’s wilderness survival skills are lacking; not knowing how to hunt is normal. They’ll improve over time.”
After all, the players thought this was a holographic game, but it was actually a real world.
Only those skilled at hunting could catch prey. They lacked combat skills, so it was natural city folk struggled.
The area wasn’t large, and soon they reached the forest’s depths. Just as they prepared to retreat, a huge, colorful tiger suddenly leapt out, startling them.
The tiger glanced at the humans, then without looking back, dashed deeper into the jungle, apparently dismissing them.
The players breathed a sigh of relief.
Lan Ling said calmly, “Just as I expected. Humans are too small and thin, with lots of bones and little meat—a tiger doesn’t consider us perfect prey.
In short, we’re too lean!
So unless the tiger is starving mad, it won’t attack humans.”
Xiao Mo, itching for action, looked at the tiger’s retreating back: “How about we kill a tiger to take back? We haven’t tasted tiger meat yet!”
Her words caused players to swallow their saliva one after another. The game felt so real; tiger meat must taste amazing, right? They really wanted to try.
And the tiger was huge—enough to eat for a long time!
They had gained some experience from small prey and now reached level four, naturally eager to try against a tiger.
Large beasts meant lots of meat and more experience!
Lan Ling pinched her forehead and rolled her eyes:
“Hey, hey, don’t get carried away, okay? I used detection magic on that tiger—it’s marked with a red question mark, at least five levels above us.
What will you fight it with? Your newbie wooden weapons? Do you think you’re Wu Song?”
Xiao Mo knew this but, as a foodie, her cravings took over. Licking her lips, she said, “Well, I’m just admiring the tiger’s mighty and majestic presence. If things go wrong, we can just pet it.
Its fur looks so soft and fluffy! It’d be great to roll around on that snow-white, round belly!”
A fluffy big cat would be perfect to cuddle—she wanted to pet it! A cat lover couldn’t help herself.
A city girl facing a live tiger for the first time, completely smitten! Who could resist such a big cat? She wanted to hug it tight!
Lan Ling laughed angrily, staring at her two crazy, fur-obsessed sisters.
Goodness, you really want to pet any cat?
“Rolling on its belly? Do you think the tiger’s belly is pettable?
I think you’ll be rolling inside its belly instead—fulfilling your wish and warming the big tiger’s stomach!”
Tiger: Ecstatic! Thanks, nature!
Su Qingyue, watching from the system’s god’s-eye view, saw players occasionally dying from poisonous fruits and mushrooms or from beasts. Hearing Lan Ling’s words, she was moved to tears.
Sobbing, she had truly had enough of these idiots—if they dared enough, everything was edible?
Luckily, the versatile player Lan Ling, praised by the game’s fans, was rational and calm—the only sane one among the fools!
Still, Su Qingyue had a bad feeling.
Wasn’t this supposed to be a serious, triumphant, satisfying story? Why was it turning into a comedy?
Watching several players slowly surround the colorful tiger, the system was a bit excited—the players were attempting to fight a mini-boss for the first time. Who would win?
Su Qingyue didn’t need to see to know the outcome. Tsk—100 players versus one tiger. On paper, the disparity was huge; in reality, it was “huge.”
“Wait, shouldn’t we retreat first?” a player suddenly spoke.
Fei Long in the Sky sighed: “We’re a hundred strong—afraid of one tiger?”

The goofy “Happy Every Day” eagerly brandished his newbie wooden sword: “First time fighting a mini-boss above our level—let’s start, no more talk!”
The hesitant player smiled bitterly, dropped his weapon, and crouched: “Should we just wait to die? Oh right, I’ll take a screenshot.”
??? Everyone was puzzled and looked around. In the pitch-black night, pairs of green eyes glowed like ghostly flames—fifty or sixty health bars shining brightly.
The forest at night wasn’t just home to the tiger but also packs of wolves!
Bad luck came in pairs—besides the wolf packs, five or six other monsters, also labeled as tigers, appeared near their target.
“Ahhhh, didn’t they say tigers hunt alone? Aren’t we still in the newbie village?”
Players screamed in terror, a flock of birds took flight in panic.
Su Qingyue twitched her mouth as she watched them fade into white lights like shooting stars, being sent back to the respawn point.
Several players still floated midair—those who had died from cliff jumping and had longer respawn times.
Su Qingyue helplessly wailed to the system: “Is this really the future team that will dominate the cultivation world?”
In the martial arts realm, they couldn’t even defeat ordinary tigers or wolves! And this wasn’t even about fighting demonic beasts or cultivators! How reliable were they?
The system assured confidently: “Players are fragile when starting the game; they’ll grow stronger gradually. They just need time to adapt—you’ll see.”
“Are you sure?”
“P-Probably!” The system seemed a bit flustered.
But what else could they do? These were the players they summoned; they’d have to make do, hoping they wouldn’t stay like this forever.
Fortunately, the players weren’t stupid. After their first group wipe, they approached in small waves, carefully scouting the surroundings before attacking.
Still, their unfamiliarity with the forest forced them to repeatedly return to respawn points.
Su Qingyue was helpless, but the players were excited—dying and resurrecting repeatedly, praising the game’s realism, impact, and the visceral feeling: yes, fierce beasts against their flesh.
However, the overenthusiastic players forgot one thing—the game forum was filled with many players who hadn’t even gotten closed beta access yet, waiting for updates!
Game forum:
“Two hours have passed, anyone say anything? Ahhhh!”
“They won’t say anything—I will. It’s definitely a scam game because it’s a pay-to-win web game. Everyone’s writing long complaints about the game company!”
“Hahaha, maybe they’ve been paid off. Just wait—someone will come and say it’s truly holographic. Maybe this small company is generous!”
After some time, a player obsessed with exploring finally remembered to reply.
“Those who said they’d eat poop, keyboards, and stinky socks—remember to prepare and stream it!”
“???”
“What’s going on? What’s going on? Ahhh!”
“Is it really paid?”
“Xiao Mo: Paid? No way! I stake my word—this game will be a hit!”
“Lan Ling: Honestly, this game is historically significant. We are witnessing history.”
“Fei Long in the Sky: Anyone who plays this game will go crazy for it. Oh, I must mention my wife’s stunning beauty!”
“See? It’s definitely paid! So generous! Holographic, witnessing history, what a boast!”
“Hahaha, they must think we’re idiots!”
“How much did this little company pay? Tencent should double it!”
“Happy Every Day: I think I’m in love! Really, I’m crying. A holographic game is already attractive, but they spent so much to create such a gorgeous lead NPC—sob, seeing her every day, I have no regrets!
By the way, Fei Long in the Sky!
What wife? She’s obviously my wife! When I handed in a quest, she looked at me—that’s basically a declaration of love. I’m already thinking about our grandkids’ names!”
“Fei Long in the Sky: ??? What? My wife smiled at you? Draw your sword, rival!”
“Xiao Mo: You two stop it! The tiger has sent me back to respawn three times already—let’s get back to fighting!”
“Fei Long in the Sky: Think I have time to chat? I’m waiting to respawn too!”
“Lan Ling: I’m different—I starved myself to death, so I could respawn.”
Other players were baffled—this was acting at a whole new level!
They sounded like they were genuinely playing a holographic game—so convincing!
