Seeing the Yinshan garrison being pursued by Rongdi cavalry, Zhao Ergou’s blood began to boil.
“Hahaha! Heaven itself is helping me! My chance to make a name for myself has arrived!”
“Brothers, charge with me! Save our own men and slaughter these Rongdi mongrels!”
He led the way, charging toward the battlefield with the ferocity of a tiger descending the mountain.
“Arrows! Give me all your arrows!” Zhao Ergou bellowed over his shoulder, his voice booming like a great bell and shaking the air.
Overwhelmed by his imposing presence, the soldiers dared not delay. They hurriedly untied their quivers and handed him their arrows.
More than thirty arrows gleamed with a cold brilliance beneath the sunlight. Zhao Ergou snatched them up and laughed with supreme confidence.
“These few arrows wouldn’t even fill the gaps between my teeth, but they’ll have to do for now!”
Leading his soldiers toward their allies, he ran with the speed of the wind, seemingly a black bolt of lightning streaking across the grassland.
As he ran, Zhao Ergou silently willed his killing-aura points into his archer skill.
“Name: Zhao Ergou.
Race: Human.
Realm: Early Martial Warrior.
Techniques: Hound-Subduing Force, Minor Mastery; Three Slashes of the Mad Wolf, Minor Mastery.
Strength: Two thousand nine hundred jin.
Talent: Bronze Archer.
Killing-Aura Points: 185.”
“I slaughtered my way through the enemy camp last night and killed more than a hundred Rongdi scum, yet I only got this many killing-aura points. What a loss!”
Twenty killing-aura points vanished in an instant. Bronze Archer advanced to Silver Archer!
A powerful force surged into Zhao Ergou’s body. He threw back his head and let out a long howl.
“Strength is the only true path!!”
He felt as though he had become one with his bow and arrows. His archery had reached an unprecedented realm, as if he had been born solely to shoot.
While running, Zhao Ergou drew out three arrows, nocked them, and pulled the bowstring taut. His movements flowed together seamlessly, smooth and breathtakingly stylish.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
The three arrows transformed into streaks of light, cutting through the sky and striking three Rongdi cavalrymen with pinpoint accuracy.

Thud! Thud! Thud!
Three muffled impacts rang out. The three Rongdi cavalrymen collapsed without even managing a groan.
Three arrows, three kills from more than five hundred meters away!
Luo Datong, Tu Dakang, and the others stared in stunned disbelief, their jaws nearly dropping to the ground.
“Good heavens! Our company commander’s archery is too incredible!” Tu Dakang exclaimed, his face filled with admiration.
Luo Datong could not help praising him as well. “Brother Ergou is truly a heaven-bestowed genius! With archery like that, even if we rode at full gallop, we could never catch up!”
The Rongdi cavalry had been caught completely off guard by the sudden attack. Only then did they notice Zhao Ergou and his men.
One of the Yinshan soldiers saw the reinforcements racing toward them from afar. As though he had seized a lifeline, he shouted excitedly, “Brothers! Reinforcements! We’re saved!”
An old soldier immediately grabbed him and spoke urgently. “Stop shouting! Run! The Rongdi cavalry are incredibly fast. We’re all infantry—we can’t outrun them. Do you want to die?”
More than thirty Rongdi cavalrymen swept over like a black whirlwind.
The Rongdi squad leader at their head flew into a rage. His eyes were bloodshot as he gnashed his teeth.
“Damn it! They actually dared kill our Rongdi warriors!”
He abruptly drew his curved saber and pointed it at Zhao Ergou and the others, shouting himself hoarse.
“Another squad of Qin soldiers! They must be the vermin who ambushed us last night! Cut off their heads and take them back for the reward!”
The Rongdi cavalry wheeled their horses around and charged at Zhao Ergou like arrows loosed from a bow.
Three arrows once again tore through the sky. With perfect precision, they struck three more Rongdi cavalrymen, who instantly tumbled from their saddles.
Facing the ferocious charge, Zhao Ergou showed not the slightest trace of fear. Instead, his eyes blazed, and his fighting spirit surged.
“Hahaha! Come on, then! I was just wondering where I could show off! These savages are perfect for testing out my newly enhanced archery!”
Once again, he fired three arrows at once. They struck the three Rongdi cavalrymen leading the charge. Amid their shrieks, men and horses crashed to the ground.
In the blink of an eye, this squad of Rongdi cavalry had lost a third of its strength!
Luo Datong was so fired up that he could not help cheering. “That’s incredible! Company Commander, you’re mighty!”
He had originally intended to persuade Zhao Ergou to retreat, but now it seemed he had been worrying for nothing.
The other soldiers looked at Zhao Ergou with admiration and reverence.
No one could have imagined that, besides being skilled at ripping out men’s kidneys, Zhao Ergou was also a god of archery!
Seeing his men’s morale falter, the Rongdi squad leader roared, “Charge! Kill them all!”

In the blink of an eye, nine cavalrymen had died beneath Zhao Ergou’s arrows. How was he supposed to explain this to their fallen brothers when he returned?
Zhao Ergou fixed his gaze on the Rongdi squad leader, nocked an arrow, and pulled the string taut. With a confident smile, he said, “You’re the one making the most noise, aren’t you? Your grandfather will send you on your way!”
He released the arrow.
The squad leader’s pupils contracted sharply. An arrow shot toward him like a falling star, leaving him no time to dodge.
The sharp arrow pierced straight through his chest. Blood sprayed into the air as the Rongdi squad leader fell backward, staring at the sky. The light in his eyes quickly faded.
Without pausing, Zhao Ergou fired three more arrows. Three more Rongdi cavalrymen fell from their horses.
As he shot, he shouted loudly, “Brothers! See that? This is what I’m capable of! Killing savages is as easy as playing a game!”
He knew that infantry could never allow cavalry to close the distance. They had to use their ranged advantage to cut the enemy down before the charge reached them.
He fired three more arrows, and three more Rongdi cavalrymen fell.
In the blink of an eye, more than half of the thirty-man Rongdi squad had been wiped out!
Fear spread through the Rongdi cavalry. One rider shouted in terror, “That kid’s a monster! Run!”
Meanwhile, the more than twenty Yinshan soldiers who had originally been fleeing for their lives stopped in their tracks. They stared in dumbfounded amazement as Zhao Ergou displayed his overwhelming might.
The surviving Rongdi cavalry were scared out of their wits. They wheeled their horses around and fled in panic.
Zhao Ergou threw back his head and laughed triumphantly.
“Trying to run? Did you ask my arrows first? Brothers, pursue them! Leave no survivors!”
Watching the remaining Rongdi soldiers flee like rabbits, Zhao Ergou felt a surge of wild delight.
“I’m going to turn every last one of you into pincushions today!”
With a furious roar, he exploded into motion, sprinting several steps before drawing his bow to its full extent once more. Martial essence surged madly into him, and he released three arrows in a single breath!
Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!
The three arrows transformed into black bolts of lightning and struck three fleeing soldiers squarely in the back. They screamed as they fell from their horses, twitched several times on the ground, and then lay still.
“Hahahaha! Shooting Rongdi dogs is as easy as shooting birds!” Zhao Ergou threw back his head and laughed heartily, his heroic spirit radiating from every word.
“Who else? Who else dares challenge me? Get down before your grandfather!”
The remaining nine Rongdi cavalrymen had already vanished into the distance. Only then did Zhao Ergou sigh regretfully.
“Consider yourselves lucky! Don’t let me run into you again!”
“Company Commander, you’re mighty! A god of slaughter descended to earth!”
Tu Dakang was so excited that he could barely speak coherently. The other soldiers cheered as well, their eyes filled with worship and admiration as they looked at Zhao Ergou.
Zhao Ergou raised his chin proudly, basking in their praise.
“It was nothing, nothing at all! Killing a few Rongdi was hardly worth mentioning. I haven’t even used my full strength yet! Follow me from now on, and I guarantee you’ll live well, drink well, earn military merit, rise through the ranks, and grow rich!”
“Thank you, Company Commander!”
The soldiers shouted in unison, their morale soaring.
