Chapter 14: Don’t Forget, You Were the One Who Provoked Me First

Song Jinwei shook her head desperately, so stunned she couldn’t speak. When Fu Siyue raised his hand to strike a second time, her voice finally broke through her throat, “Stop, don’t hit me again! No, no! I was wrong, I’m sorry, I don’t like him!”
“I don’t like him anymore. I won’t dare to sneak out to meet him again. Fu Siyue, please stop hitting me.”
But Fu Siyue was unwilling to let Fu Qinian off so easily. Seeing his intent, Song Jinwei was powerless to intervene and collapsed to her knees. Her eyes were bloodshot as she screamed, “I beg you, Fu Siyue, you lunatic, I hate you!!”
Old Fu Bo risked catching the blow with his hand. His palm turned red and quickly swelled. If Fu Siyue hadn’t swiftly eased his strength, his aging bones would have shattered.
“Young master, please spare him this time. After this, he’ll learn his lesson.” If Fu Qinian’s legs were truly ruined, the father-son relationship between Fu Siyue and his father would only deteriorate further, becoming irreparable.
Fu Siyue glanced deeply at the pleading Fu Bo and muttered two words, “Doctor.” This time, the family doctor arrived promptly and immediately took Fu Bo away to examine his injury.
Fu Bo left slowly, still keeping an eye on the situation until he saw Fu Siyue toss the iron rod aside, finally letting out a breath of relief.
“Throw him out.”
“Yes, sir.” Lin Feng dragged Fu Qinian out like he was dragging a dead dog.
Fu Qinian struggled weakly, his face twisted with rage and humiliation, eyes lowered yet burning fiercely with hatred.
Fu Siyue strode over to Song Jinwei, half crouching, and gripped her chin with one large hand.
He looked at her rebellious, disheveled face, streaked with tears and stubbornness, without a hint of disdain.
“You hate me?”
Song Jinwei lifted her head defiantly, eyes red and glaring, shining with pure hatred.
Fu Siyue narrowed his cold, arrogant eyes, tightening his grip on her chin. “Don’t forget, you were the one who provoked me first.”
Song Jinwei retorted, “I regret it, isn’t that enough?”
Fu Siyue’s gaze darkened, heavy and oppressive. “Too late. I already gave you a chance.”
When Fu Siyue was a child, he was extremely withdrawn and unsociable, refusing to speak or interact with the outside world, and thus had no friends.
At first, it was Fu Siyue who disliked Song Jinwei’s persistent teasing and attempts to get close to him.
He told her repeatedly to go away and keep her distance, but little Song Jinwei was so determined and persistent that his rejection only fueled her courage. She always held a curious gaze and wore a smile as bright as the sun.

Later, whether from loneliness or something else, Fu Siyue softened.
When Song Jinwei said she would love him forever, he opened a crack in his heart and let her in.
“You said you would love me forever. You can only love me. For the rest of your life, you must stay by my side,” Fu Siyue whispered by her ear, each word dark and obsessive, like a curse that bound Song Jinwei tightly.
Tears streamed down Song Jinwei’s face as she trembled uncontrollably, a deep fear rooted in her very bones for Fu Siyue’s madness and obsession.
If she had known the trouble that would come from provoking Fu Siyue as a child, she would have stayed far away, never near him. Wherever Fu Siyue was, she would never be seen.
“I was so young then. How could I understand ‘forever love’ or ‘eternal companionship’? What I said was just childish nonsense.” What she truly loved was Fu Qinian. He was her true love!
As for Fu Siyue, who constantly interfered with her being with her true love, she only felt disgust and bitter regret.
“But I believed it. So it has to be true,” Fu Siyue said like a cold-blooded demon, determined to torment her for life.
Song Jinwei bit her lip so hard it nearly broke her gums. “Fu Siyue, I hate you!”
Fu Siyue paused briefly then returned to his usual calm. “Hate me if you will. Many people hate me. You’re just one of them.”
People had hated him since the day he was born.
One was his biological father, and the other, his biological mother.
Fu Siyue’s fingers traced the bruises on Song Jinwei’s neck. His touch was icy cold, as if carved from ice, causing her to flinch, but soon a soothing sensation spread.
Her neck injury actually needed to be iced.
But in front of Fu Siyue, she couldn’t bring herself to look like she was enjoying it.
“Take the lady back to her room. She’s not allowed anywhere for the next few days,” Fu Siyue stood up.
This was to prevent her from seeing Fu Qinian.
There was no way she could be at ease with Fu Qinian so badly hurt in front of her.
Song Jinwei’s eyes widened, and the next moment she shouted in protest, “Fu Siyue, you can’t lock me up! I’m an adult! I can go wherever I want! Fu Siyue!!”

But no matter how much she resisted, Song Jinwei was eventually taken back to her room by the servants.
The family doctor followed behind at Fu Siyue’s command.
Fu Siyue took out his phone and contacted Wei Xifeng.
He already knew about today’s events. Though he had been out handling work, upon hearing the news, he rushed back.
Wei Xifeng was just about to fall asleep when Fu Siyue’s call interrupted him, causing a large vein to bulge on his temple.
In front of Jiang Liwu, he had pretended to be weak, but after his episode, he was genuinely exhausted and frail.
The phone kept ringing. Annoyed and restless, Wei Xifeng opened his eyes, his gaze dark and troubled.
Swiping the screen, he spoke sharply, “What is it?”
Fu Siyue got straight to the point. “Did you lay a hand on Song Jinwei today?”
“So what if I did? She asked for it. I already warned her for your sake.” These sworn brothers were ranked by age; Wei Xifeng had to call Fu Siyue “big brother.”
But when it came to Jiang Liwu, even the big brother had no say.
“Just over a few candied hawthorns?” Fu Siyue could hardly believe it when he heard.
They weren’t particularly fond of sweets; rather, the sugar held a special significance for them, which was why they ate it.
“Yes, just because of the candied hawthorns.”
“To you, Song Jinwei is a treasure. But to me, she’s nothing. Her life isn’t worth my candied hawthorns.”
Fu Siyue frowned. Although he knew Song Jinwei had provoked Wei Xifeng, triggering his illness, he couldn’t tolerate Wei Xifeng belittling her life. His voice darkened. “Wei Xifeng.”
Wei Xifeng replied, “Don’t like what you hear? But it’s the truth.”
