Chapter 110: Taking the Elixir of Immortality
Prince Fusu’s ascension to the throne was largely due to Yang Wenhao’s decisive action in eliminating the faction of rebels within the court. Otherwise, given Prince Fusu’s strength alone, he likely would not have been able to overcome those adversaries.
In the following seventy-two hours, Yang Wenhao began amassing rare treasures of heaven and earth—such as ginseng and polygonum multiflorum—greatly nourishing substances. Prince Fusu observed this but did not intervene, as he had already tacitly agreed with Yang Wenhao on the matter.
The two thousand elite guards continued collecting these precious items, hauling box after box into the Yang residence. As the seventy-two hours drew near, Yang Wenhao stood before the Lü family mansion.
He felt a deep sense of guilt toward the two young ladies of the Lü family, for he had deceived them. Yet, Yang Wenhao knew nothing of their true feelings, and they had no opportunity to confide in him. Unlike the original tale, where confessions came out of necessity, now everyone waited silently, none daring to make the first move.
Perhaps because of this hesitation, Yang Wenhao delayed making a choice. In the end, he did not enter the Lü mansion but instead sent a letter and then went to bid farewell to Prince Fusu.
Upon returning to the Yang residence to put away the treasures, Li Lingyun suddenly burst in, breathless.
“Master,” she gasped, appearing before Yang Wenhao.
He stood silently, gazing at her.
“I heard you’re leaving?” Li Lingyun had already guessed as much. The fact that everyone at the Yang estate had been dismissed made the situation clear. Yet only today did she fully grasp the reality.
“Yes,” Yang Wenhao nodded.
“Master, where are you going?” she asked.
Yang Wenhao looked up at the sky and replied, “I shall roam the world as my home.”
Li Lingyun pursed her lips, then seemed to gather her courage. “Master, I want to go with you.”
Yang Wenhao was momentarily stunned, then shook his head. “You are the chancellor’s daughter. If you wish, you may enter official service. Why follow me?”
“But Ling’er does not want to suffer the calamities of the court. I only wish to be with you, Master,” Li Lingyun said softly.
Hearing this, Yang Wenhao narrowed his eyes slightly. As someone from the modern world, he understood the deeper meaning behind her words perfectly.
And indeed, he had not misunderstood.
Yet he shook his head again. At this moment, he lacked the means to take anyone with him. His current score was just over eight thousand—far from the required ten thousand—and beyond that threshold, the costs would likely increase, demanding even more points.
So for now, not only could he not take Li Lingyun, but no one else either.
Yang Wenhao smiled faintly and patted Li Lingyun’s head. “You go wait outside for a moment. Let me think.”
“Alright,” she replied without hesitation, nodding before turning to leave.
Once Li Lingyun was gone, Yang Wenhao closed the door, his back to it as he sighed deeply. “System, return.”

A white light engulfed Yang Wenhao entirely. In the blink of an eye, his surroundings changed.
Gone was the ancient, elegant hall, replaced by a modern-style bedroom.
After several years, Yang Wenhao had finally returned to this world.
He then took out three pills of the elixir of immortality.
He did not know if he could make more, but did not concern himself with that. Only Cui Wenzi could refine it; even if Yang Wenhao knew the formula, he could not produce it.
“Three pills... who should I give them to?” he wondered.
Shaking his head, he took one and placed it in his mouth.
Like a true divine elixir, it melted instantly, flowing as liquid into his abdomen.
Immediately, his entire body began to radiate a strange light.
Yang Wenhao felt his whole being transforming.
The sensation was brief, vanishing after a few breaths.
Apart from feeling much lighter, there was no other effect from the pill.
He then took out a mirror and was surprised to see a youthful version of himself looking back.
Having spent years in the mythic realm, his appearance had matured, no longer resembling the boy who first entered.
Now, restored to youth, and not considering crossing worlds, his approximate age seemed around sixteen or seventeen—somewhat precocious, but perfectly normal.
“Ding! Congratulations, host. You have gained an additional ten thousand years of life, acquired disease resistance, and will no longer fall ill (Note: poisons and other non-disease effects still apply).”
He had gained immunity of sorts—useful, yet not entirely. At Yang Wenhao’s level, illness was rare and immediately apparent.
“Ten thousand years of life may not be immortality, but it’s nearly enough,” he nodded, somewhat satisfied.
Changing out of his ancient attire, Yang Wenhao donned casual clothes—simple yet fitting as if tailored for him.
At that moment, Yang Ying returned home.
After some thought, Yang Wenhao decided to give one of the remaining two immortality pills to Yang Ying.
“Brother, what is this?” Yang Ying eyed the brown pill with suspicion.
“Don’t ask too much. It’s good stuff. I took one, so you should take one too,” Yang Wenhao said.
Yang Ying gave him a strange look. “Brother, this isn’t some love potion, is it? You’re trying to trick me?”
Yang Wenhao almost spat out old blood at the suggestion. What kind of person did she think he was? Besides, have you ever seen a love potion shaped like this? It made no sense at all. He was gaining a new understanding of his sister.
Seeing his embarrassed expression, Yang Ying chuckled softly. “Just kidding, Brother. I’ll take it.”
