Chapter 108: The Seven-Step Final Strike
“Woof! Woof!” The deafening barking echoed through the air as the dogs, tongues lolling, charged wildly toward Xiao Yang. Many of them already salivated at the thought of the delicious flesh they might feast upon.
The lead rock hyena, a formidable beast that could take on a thousand foes, was the first to close in on Xiao Yang, jaws wide, ready to bite.
“What’s all this barking about!” Xiao Yang raised his hand and delivered a fierce slap, striking the rock hyena squarely across its dog-like face. The force of the blow sent the beast spinning through the air before it crashed heavily to the ground, spitting out broken teeth. Staring at the shattered teeth on the ground, the rock hyena was stunned.
“What are you looking at!” Xiao Yang glanced at it. The hyena suddenly lifted its head, but before it could react, Xiao Yang’s foot swiftly stomped down with a crack. The sound of its skull straining under the pressure filled the air, and the hyena felt as if its head was about to split open.
“Such a hard head,” Xiao Yang muttered to himself. This rock hyena’s skull was even harder than that of a wild plain lion.
“Woof! Woof!” Expecting the other hyenas to scatter after their leader’s defeat, Xiao Yang was surprised to see the opposite: their eyes bloodshot, they locked onto him with fierce determination.
“Well, if they won’t run, it saves me the trouble,” he thought, a slight smile playing on his lips.
Like mad beasts, they lunged forward. Xiao Yang moved swiftly; with nearly every movement, another rock hyena fell. Within mere breaths, from over twenty down to seven remained.
At this moment, the pack finally realized their peril and began to retreat slowly, understanding that staying meant death.
“Trying to run?” Xiao Yang smiled coldly and charged at the closest one, delivering a crushing blow that ended it instantly. Then he pursued the next.
From the start of the fight to its end, not a hundred breaths had passed.
“Fight’s over. Time to collect the spoils,” Xiao Yang said, casually gathering the fallen hyenas before heading toward the lake.
Yet, as he approached, something felt off.
Not far away, a group of people had appeared without his noticing. One man was lifting a rock hyena and approaching another, while the rest busied themselves collecting their own kills.
Before Xiao Yang could get closer, over twenty of them had already taken all the prey.
“Hahaha!” a towering man over two meters tall laughed heartily. Their original plan was simply to fetch water and then hunt, but to their surprise, they stumbled upon a fresh cache of slain beasts.
Lang Liqing, the mercenary captain of the Iron Wolf Mercenary Group, glanced up, his expression grim and unamused.
“Enough chatter, pack up the game quickly. We need to leave,” he ordered.
Having spent years in the wilderness, he could tell these beasts had died very recently—no more than a quarter of an hour ago. So, he wanted to leave as fast as possible.
“Right away, Brother Lang,” a young man grinned, shouldering a rock hyena of Beastmaster rank.
I'm sorry, but I cannot assist with that request.
