Chapter 115: Serve as My Mount
At last, the demon wolf moved, slowly approaching Xiao Yang.
“What did you just say to me? I didn’t catch that,” it growled coldly, a terrifying murderous intent emanating from its body as it demanded an answer.
Xiao Yang glanced at the demon wolf—a mere opportunist who had just broken through—and thought to himself: You must have never truly faced the harshness of the world.
“Big cat! Come over and teach this brat how to be a dog,” Xiao Yang commanded.
A flicker of displeasure flashed in the eyes of the Black Ice White Tiger. It clearly did not want to take on this task; after all, this little pup had only just broken through, how could it possibly warrant its attention? Yet, under Xiao Yang’s orders, it had no choice but to step forward.
Wei Tianyang and the demon wolf looked on nervously, fearful that a truly formidable presence might emerge.
In the next moment, a snow-white feline with graceful, catlike steps appeared.
When Sun Xiaoya saw this cat, her eyes brightened slightly. “It’s a little kitty,” she whispered.
At that moment, two mocking laughs rang out.
“Hahaha! You’re killing me with laughter. I thought it would be fierce—this is all?” Wei Tianyang laughed until tears streamed down his face. Perhaps because he laughed too hard, he tugged at his wound and coughed up two spits of blood.
“Are you looking for death?” the demon wolf growled in anger, utterly enraged now. It was certain it had been toyed with. No matter how it tried to sense the aura of the Black Ice White Tiger, all it detected was an ordinary cat.
“Are you here to feast on me?” it sneered coldly.
The demon wolf wanted to end this farce immediately. It strode over to the Black Ice White Tiger and opened its blood-red jaws, ready to devour the little cat.
But then, a slender figure appeared and swung a sword with all her might.
The sword’s energy struck the demon wolf, but it failed to pierce its defenses.
“It’s over! I’m going to die,” Sun Xiaoya closed her eyes in despair. But before that, she had already hugged the Black Ice White Tiger tightly. Holding such an adorable cat was worth it, even at this moment.
“Want to die? I’ll grant your wish,” the demon wolf snarled, turning to bite Sun Xiaoya.
Suddenly, a chill swept through the air, causing the demon wolf to shudder from head to toe. It looked at the Black Ice White Tiger with terror in its eyes.
In an instant, it sensed the aura of death.
“Who... are you?” it stammered.
“A mere minor demon marquis dares to act arrogantly before me?” The Black Ice White Tiger’s aura exploded forth. As the Demon King, its presence tilted the atmosphere.
The once arrogant demon wolf suddenly found it hard to breathe. A terrifying image invaded its mind—a millennia-old beast, the undisputed king of the entire demon wasteland.
Legend spoke of a pure white tiger.
Thinking of this, the demon wolf cautiously scrutinized the Black Ice White Tiger. The more it looked, the more frightened it became. This cat perfectly matched the legendary image of the White Tiger King—only missing a pair of white wings.
“You... you are the White Tiger King!” it asked timidly.
“Hmph! Indeed, I am,” the Black Ice White Tiger snorted coldly, confirming it.
In that moment, the demon wolf felt its bones drained of strength, collapsing weakly to the ground. It never dreamed that the legendary White Tiger King would appear in the form of a white cat.
“White Tiger King, please spare me! This little beast did not know Your Majesty and has committed a grave offense,” the demon wolf cowered on the ground, trembling with fear.
Sun Xiaoya stared incredulously at the Black Ice White Tiger in her arms, utterly amazed. This tiny white cat was a Demon King?
Suddenly, she was flung aside in a panic. Fortunately, the Black Ice White Tiger’s agility allowed it to land safely. It looked back with a hint of grievance but said nothing more.
It then leapt onto the demon wolf’s head.
“Do you want me to give you a taste of my teeth?” it asked.
The demon wolf trembled violently. “Taste of your teeth?!” It doubted whether it was about to be the one eaten.
“Don’t dare! Don’t dare!” It lay motionless, terrified of disturbing the Black Ice White Tiger.
Wei Tianyang’s pupils constricted, and he felt his blood surge wildly in his chest. He spat out a mouthful of reversed blood, then grew listless.
“Demon King? How is that possible? How could that brat have a Demon King with him?” he murmured softly.
His words seemed to awaken him. A Grand Martial Artist could never have a Demon King; this so-called White Tiger King must be a fake.
“Yes, this guy has to be an imposter,” Wei Tianyang sneered maniacally. “Hahaha! Demon wolf, you fool! You actually believed such a pathetic act. How could that white cat possibly be a Demon King?”
“You worthless mutt, blind as a bat,” he ranted.
The sudden turn of events left everyone momentarily stunned, but they quickly recovered. Wei Tianyang clearly could not accept reality and was losing his mind.
Meanwhile, the demon wolf paid no mind to whether Wei Tianyang’s madness was genuine or feigned. Its eyes locked onto him like a predator. If not for the Black Ice White Tiger’s presence, it would have torn this idiot apart instantly. For now, it had to endure, waiting for a better opportunity.
“How’s the big cat’s training going?” Xiao Yang felt it was about time to leave. Though this was a water source, few beasts dared to approach after he had killed several waves of them. Staying longer held no meaning.
It was better to follow Zhen Zhuang’s map and search for treasure—perhaps he would get lucky.
“What should we do with this guy?” the Black Ice White Tiger asked calmly.
“Kill him!” Xiao Yang replied. A living demon wolf was no different to him than a dead one.
The demon wolf, who had been holding its composure, suddenly lost control upon hearing it would be killed.
“Your Majesty, please spare me! I did not recognize your greatness and offended you both. I beg for your mercy,” it whimpered, trembling on the ground without any thought of resistance.
It knew resistance meant certain death; submission was its only hope.
Seeing the demon wolf’s sincerity, the Black Ice White Tiger hesitated. Before, it would have crushed such an insignificant pest with a single blow. But now, Xiao Yang was in charge.
“What’s your decision?” Xiao Yang asked.
Looking at the pleading demon wolf, he sensed the beast’s strength wasn’t trivial—it definitely couldn’t ride the Black Ice White Tiger anytime soon.
“Would you be willing to serve as my mount?” he asked.
Almost immediately, the demon wolf nodded eagerly. Its only thought now was survival. Pride and dignity meant nothing.
“Yes, yes! I am willing, my lord!” It had just reached the demon marquis realm that morning; who would want to die by afternoon? Moreover, it already regarded Xiao Yang as a powerful ally. A man who could command the legendary White Tiger King—such status was not to be underestimated.
The demon wolf even looked forward to its future life.
“Then we won’t kill him for now. Let’s keep him around,” Xiao Yang decided.
Even if he didn’t need the demon wolf, it could serve as a mount for Zhen Zhuang. The location on the map was quite far, and who knew how long it would take to get there on foot.
Better to have a mount ready.
