Chapter 5: An Unintentional Display of Wealth
As Chu Feng left, Ma Long’s expression immediately darkened. “Xuan Xuan, you nearly offended one of our major clients just now.”
“But…”
“Shut up! Some things can only be understood, not spoken! If it happens again, pack your things and get out!” Ma Long glanced at the woman in the cheongsam.
The cheongsam-clad beauty realized she had misspoken and lowered her head.
“Hmph!” Ma Long tossed his watch into the trash bin. “Go investigate who this Chu Feng really is! He’s not even twenty and already running his own place—this kid isn’t ordinary!”
Xuan Xuan was about to leave, but Ma Long seemed to have thought of something. “If necessary, sacrifice a bit of charm.”
At these words, Xuan Xuan’s face immediately fell. She bit her lip but still respectfully nodded to Ma Long.
With money in hand, Chu Feng returned to his rented room without delay.
He currently had 28 million in liquid funds and over 80 million still “unprocessed.” He knew his plan could now proceed.
There was only a month and a half before school started; he had to settle everything before then.
Inside the room, Chu Feng bought a quilt and a mat and even installed a secondhand old air conditioner.
He hadn’t purchased new items because when the holiday ended, he didn’t intend to take any of the furniture with him.
Of course, since fate had given him a second chance, he didn’t plan to live on campus anymore.
He needed to find an opportunity to rent or buy a place near the university.
“Dad, Mom, I found a job near school. Don’t send any more tuition money,” Chu Feng sent a message.
After some thought, he added, “I’ll be back on the eleventh.”
Soon, his mother replied, “Don’t push yourself too hard. You’re still a student—rest when you’re tired. If you’re short on money, just tell us. Your parents are still working hard!”
Seeing this, Chu Feng’s nose tightened, nearly bringing tears to his eyes.
Having his parents alive was truly a blessing.
This time, he was determined to make something of himself and return home with a grand surprise for them.
“First up: virtual currency!”
Chu Feng powered on his computer and used a VPN to start purchasing cryptocurrencies.
“Bitcoin was once just a cent per coin. I heard someone once bought a pizza for over six thousand bitcoins—imagine how much he regrets that now,” Chu Feng browsed the crypto interface.
He saw that Bitcoin was now twenty-five dollars.
He recalled from the news during his previous life in prison that Bitcoin had surged to sixty thousand dollars ten years later.
An almost three-thousand-fold increase!
Chu Feng invested ten million into a ten-year long-term plan.
He had three goals: long-term, short-term, and near-expiry investments.
Long-term was Bitcoin because with ten million invested, the asset value in ten years would be unimaginable.
He planned to use the remaining eighteen million to pursue some short-term projects.
Calming himself, Chu Feng sat on his bed and practiced the “Mysterious Sect’s Joyful Meditation” for a while, but this time, unlike before, he didn’t feel that warm, pleasant sensation throughout his body.
“Could it be that the old lama’s technique requires practicing with a partner?” Chu Feng smiled and shook his head.
Though not entirely fruitless, after a short while, he felt his energy restored.
What had made him drowsy in the afternoon now felt like he had just downed three cups of black coffee.
From the soles of his feet to the crown of his head, he felt completely alert.
At four in the afternoon,
sunlight slanted gently over the familiar gate of Yanbei University. Chu Feng stood across the street, gazing at the school’s signboard, emotions surging within him.
In his past life, countless times he had dreamed of returning here.
But waking up, there was only an iron bed and concrete walls.
Now, stepping foot on this land again, everything felt both familiar and strange.
It stirred profound feelings within him.
The summer campus was unusually quiet, lacking the usual hustle and bustle.
He recalled the tree-lined paths where leaves swayed softly in the breeze.
He thought of the little trails he once walked, the lawns where he played, and the lecture halls where he listened to talks.
Near the school gate were various small shops—stationery, quick meals, bookstores...
But this time he wasn’t here for nostalgia; he was here to buy a car.
He would likely need a vehicle in the future; constantly hailing taxis would be inconvenient.
Near the school was an auto mall, and at this time, various 4S dealerships were beginning to emerge across the country.
“Sir, are you looking to buy a car?”
A gentle voice came from nearby.
Chu Feng turned and saw a young woman handing out flyers across the street.
She wore professional attire, resembling Li Xueli but lacking some of her coquettishness, instead carrying the solemnity that a business outfit brought.
White blouse, female suit jacket, pencil skirt, black stockings, high heels, and a wedding ring on her ring finger.
Her features were delicate, not as alluring as Li Xueli’s, but quietly beautiful.
Her striking figure made up for everything.
“Hm? What cars do you have?” Chu Feng approached and took a flyer.
It showed private cars—ordinary vehicles for daily commuting.
“Hello! I’m Shi Wenjing!” She looked at Chu Feng’s attire and guessed he wanted a practical family car.
Her own family was struggling financially, so she needed to make more sales to cover losses.
“This way, please,” Shi Wenjing invited Chu Feng into a Ford dealership’s lounge.
The place was quiet, clearly business wasn’t good lately.
Shi Wenjing was very enthusiastic and immediately brought Chu Feng some hot tea.
Chu Feng glanced at the tea leaves—Silver Needle eyebrow.
Not bad, not great.
“Miss Shi, you’re so hospitable. If I don’t buy a car here, it would seem rude,” Chu Feng said, sipping the tea, his gaze drifting over Shi Wenjing’s deep neckline.
Not bad—a plunging V.
Shi Wenjing’s face blossomed with a smile. She glanced at the “Top Sales Bonus” plaque on the wall, a sly glint appearing in her eyes.
“If you buy a car from me, I promise you’ll get even better service beyond the package,” she said with a smile.
Chu Feng set down the cup. “Oh? What kind of service? I’m curious.”
He shifted and crossed his legs.
Shi Wenjing tucked the hair at her forehead behind her ear, revealing her tender earlobe and the earring on it.
“Why don’t you test drive one first?” she said coquettishly.
Chu Feng felt a slight dryness in his throat and smiled faintly. “Alright.”
Once inside the car and the door closed, as Shi Wenjing introduced the features, Chu Feng deliberately opened his phone, casually letting her see the over ten million balance displayed.
Shi Wenjing’s eyes widened in astonishment.
