Chapter 19: Su Muyun Is Actually the Boss?
Yao Tingting’s expression shifted slightly. "Are you talking about Sister Su? Do you mean our new boss, Su Muyun?"
Jiang Yang was taken aback. "What new boss? Isn't the bar owned by Old Lin?"
Recalling that Jiang Yang hadn't been around for over a month, Yao Tingting nodded. "Oh, it's no wonder you don't know. The former boss sold the bar, and the new owner is Su Muyun—Sister Su."
"The bar was doing just fine. Why did Old Lin sell it?" Jiang Yang asked, looking completely bewildered.
"I have no idea..." Yao Tingting replied, her eyes wide.
"That’s because Sister Su offered him a price he couldn't refuse." The voice, rough and booming, interrupted him from behind.
The three of them turned in unison to see a burly man with a crew cut, dressed in denim. It was none other than the man who had forced Jiang Yang into the car that day.
"Brother Hao?" Yao Tingting exclaimed.
The man called Brother Hao ignored her, instead gesturing for Jiang Yang to follow. "Sister Su has been at the bar every night this week. Come with me."
The implications of those few words were so staggering that Chen Hao and Yao Tingting were left dumbfounded, staring fixedly at Jiang Yang. The new boss had paid a fortune for the bar and was waiting for him every night—there was clearly more to this story than met the eye.
Jiang Yang offered them an awkward smile before following Brother Hao away from the table and toward a private suite. Two large men guarding the door blocked his path. One of them asked the crew-cut man, "Brother Hao, who is this kid? We have to frisk him per the rules."
Brother Hao slapped him hard across the face. "Is 'kid' what you call him? He might be the boss's lady one day. Call him Brother Yang!"
The two hulking guards hurriedly bowed to Jiang Yang. "Hello, Brother Yang." They immediately stepped aside to let him enter.
Jiang Yang felt his face heat up. Between being called "Sister-in-law" and "Brother Yang," he wondered if this man was hinting that he was a kept man.
He opened the door and immediately saw the woman who could make any man’s heart race, sitting alone on the sofa.
She was wearing a deep-V, wine-red gown that made her snow-white skin look even more striking. Her long legs, encased in black silk, were stretched out in a way that was effortlessly seductive. She held a goblet of red wine; the crimson liquid matched her lips, and her beautiful eyes held a hazy, distant look.
When she saw Jiang Yang, a flicker of strange emotion appeared in her eyes, though her voice remained calm. "Well? Have you made up your mind?"
"Su..." He had meant to call her Sister Su like everyone else, but changed his mind. "Sister Muyun, I’m here because I want to ask you something."
For some reason, seeing her in this room triggered a strange sensation in Jiang Yang, as if something monumental had once happened between them here.
Su Muyun gestured with her chin toward the man with the crew cut, who nodded, left the room, and locked the door behind him. Now, they were truly alone.
Su Muyun poured a little wine into a glass. She rose from the sofa, walked slowly toward Jiang Yang, and held the glass out to him. Tilting her head, she stared at him. "What else do you want to ask?"
Jiang Yang didn't know why she used the word "else." "Sister Muyun, I came today to ask about what happened before my car accident..."
*Clink.* Su Muyun tapped her glass against his. She brought her glass to his lips and said softly, "Drink first, then we’ll talk."
Seeing the faint imprint of red lipstick on the rim of the glass, Jiang Yang realized that drinking from it would be an indirect kiss. Feeling it was inappropriate, he quickly raised his own glass to block her and downed his drink in one go.
Su Muyun smiled faintly. She finished her drink as well, then hooked her arm around Jiang Yang’s neck. "Ask away."
Feeling her breath, slightly scented with wine, close to his face, Jiang Yang felt his resolve waver; he struggled to keep his composure. He reminded himself that regardless of Ruolan’s mysterious identity, she was still his wife, and he could never betray her.
He took a half-step back, pulling away from Su Muyun. "Sister Muyun, I lost my memory after the car accident. Can you tell me what happened between us?"
Su Muyun’s beautiful eyes flashed with irritation. "I may run in these circles, but I’m not a loose woman. You’ve kissed me and touched me—are you saying you just don't remember?"
Jiang Yang was stunned. He had never imagined he would have done such things to this female mob boss. "No, Sister Muyun, I really have a concussion and don't remember. What exactly happened between us?"
*Slap!* A sharp sting hit Jiang Yang’s face.
"So you say you don't remember, is that it?" Su Muyun stepped closer, backing him into a corner. She grabbed his collar, pinned him against the wall, and her gaze turned fierce.
"Sister Muyun, what are you doing?" Jiang Yang felt a sense of dread. This woman was a boss, after all; if he provoked her, there was no telling what she might do.
It was too late. With a sharp *rip*, she tore open his shirt, exposing his solid chest. She reached out, her cool fingers tracing his skin, causing his muscles to twitch involuntarily.
Pinned to the wall, he had nowhere to run. He dared not fight back or further enrage her; if she screamed, those thugs outside wouldn't hesitate to intervene. He didn't want to end up losing his life before he even had a chance to become the "boss's lady."
He could only lean against the wall, motionless, letting her do as she pleased.
Su Muyun’s hand moved gently toward his left chest and stopped at a faint scar. She traced it softly, her eyes filled with tenderness. "You may have forgotten everything, but I haven't. This scar is what you left behind for me."
"How... how do you know I have a scar on my chest?" Jiang Yang himself didn't know where it came from. He remembered not having it before, but it had appeared after the accident. It wasn't a fresh wound; judging by how it had healed, it had been there for two or three months.
Su Muyun looked up at him. "Of course I know. It's because you took a knife for me. If you hadn't, I would have been dead long ago."
