The next morning, Jiang Yang arrived at the office a few minutes late. Most of his colleagues had already arrived.

The atmosphere in the company was even more lively than it had been when the new boss first made an appearance. Several colleagues were whispering and discussing something animatedly.

"The new general manager is seriously stunning. Even prettier than a celebrity."

"Well, duh! Look at that figure, that face..."

"Hey, you're drooling. Wipe that off."

"To be sent here as general manager at such a young age, she must be some relative of the big boss, right?"

"Relative? Heck, she looks a lot like the boss. Could she be the boss's daughter?"

Amidst this chaotic chatter, Jiang Yang grew even more puzzled. Was the new general manager really as gorgeous as they made her out to be?

As he passed the design department, Chen Hao suddenly stood up, threw an arm around Jiang Yang, and lowered his voice, "Bro, bro, I've got to apologize to you. I totally misunderstood you the other day."

Jiang Yang was taken aback. "What do you mean? Are you talking about my promotion?"

Chen Hao's eyes curved into slits of a smile as he gently punched Jiang Yang in the chest. "Why didn't you just tell me earlier? You had your brother here completely misunderstanding you."

Jiang Yang was somewhat bewildered. "I have no idea what you're talking about."

"Stop playing dumb with me. You've got to look out for your brother from now on. Gotta run, back to work." Chen Hao let go of Jiang Yang and returned to his desk on his own.

Jiang Yang shook his head. Chen Hao's words left him baffled, and he had no clue what scheme the guy was hatching.

He sat down at his desk in his own office, and the phone on it immediately rang.

He picked it up. It was an internal call from General Manager Du: "Jiang Yang, the new President Wang wants to see you. Go to her office."

Jiang Yang thought to himself, *I might as well see just how gorgeous this new general manager really is, to make someone like Lao Luo, who practically lives at nightclubs, start drooling.*

He arrived at the general manager's office door and knocked gently. "Excuse me, President Wang. I'm Jiang Yang from the design department."

"Come in," a woman's voice drifted from inside.

Hearing that voice, Jiang Yang's heart felt as though it had been struck by a heavy blow. He was all too familiar with that voice—how could it possibly be her?!

His hand lingered on the doorknob. He scarcely dared to open the door, as if a female demon waiting to devour him lurked just on the other side.

"Come in!" The woman inside repeated the words, sounding somewhat impatient.

The door had to be opened eventually. Summoning his courage, Jiang Yang finally pushed it open.

His gaze instantly landed on the woman seated on the spacious sofa.

She wore a light blue skirt suit paired with a white ruffled blouse. Her brownish hair fell in soft, natural waves over one shoulder. Her breathtakingly beautiful face bore exquisite makeup, and silver heart-shaped earrings hung from her earlobes.

This ridiculously pretty woman was both intimately familiar and utterly estranged to him.

She was none other than Wang Ruolan—the fake wife who had spent half a month living with him, only to install twenty-three hidden cameras all over his apartment.

"How... how could it be you?" The shock Jiang Yang felt at that moment defied description.

"Why couldn't it be me?" Wang Ruolan retorted with a smile.

As the shock slowly faded, Jiang Yang was gradually consumed by rage. All the bizarre occurrences around the company finally made sense.

This obsessive, twisted woman was like a lingering ghost—she had actually gone ahead and acquired the entire company!

Pointing at her, Jiang Yang demanded, "I always wondered why anyone would pay a premium to acquire an ordinary-sized advertising firm. And then, right after the takeover, I suddenly get promoted to design department supervisor. So this was your doing all along! It was all targeted at me!"

"You'd better close the door first. I have something to say to you." Wang Ruolan completely adopted the tone of a high-and-mighty boss, entirely stripped of the begging demeanor she had once used to keep him by her side.

"What else do you want? Did you install another bunch of cameras in here?" Seeing Ruolan's completely altered attitude toward him, Jiang Yang suddenly felt a chilling premonition.

Ruolan said unhurriedly, "I told you, you'd better close the door first. Otherwise, it won't be good if someone overhears us."

"I don't want to hear it. I'm resigning right now. I'm not staying in this company!" Jiang Yang whirled around, ready to leave.

"Hold on!" Ruolan stopped him. "If you want to resign today, I'll allow it. But you'll be receiving a lawyer's letter."

"What lawyer's letter?" Jiang Yang turned back to look at her, his sense of foreboding growing stronger by the second.

He now realized that although this woman had slept by his side for over half a month, aside from her body, he knew absolutely nothing else about her.

Ruolan slowly rose from her chair, walked past Jiang Yang, and closed the door herself.

Turning back to face him, she fixed her mesmerizing eyes on him and said, "The moment you dare to walk out that door, I will sue you for leaking the company's client secrets to our competitors."

"This kind of corporate crime is enough to land you in prison for a few years."

Jiang Yang stared in wide-eyed disbelief at the breathtakingly pretty face before him. The words she had just uttered were equally suffocating.

"I have never leaked any company secrets..."

"Oh? But you're the design department supervisor now, aren't you? You have access to all the client files."

"You..."

"And you were looking through those client files yesterday as well, weren't you?"

"But I didn't leak them!"

"How do you know you didn't? What if you leaked them without even realizing it?"

A cold bead of sweat trickled down Jiang Yang's forehead. He knew that since this woman was capable of hiding twenty-three cameras in his private home, framing him for leaking client data would cause her zero pangs of conscience.

She might even thoroughly enjoy tossing him into prison, perhaps finding twisted new ways to toy with him behind bars.

Jiang Yang closed his eyes and took a deep breath. "Wang Ruolan, I genuinely don't understand. What on earth is so great about me that's worth you going to such monstrous lengths?"

Ruolan cupped his chin in one hand, scrutinized his handsome face, and curved the corners of her lips into a smile. "Who said I went to lengths for you? I simply wanted to run this company well, and it just so happens that I appreciate you as an employee. Don't misunderstand; my relationship with you is strictly that of a general manager and an employee. Nothing more."

Gritting his teeth, Jiang Yang said, "Wang Ruolan, what on earth do you want? Can you just give it to me straight?"

Ruolan glared at him and said, "Didn't I already tell you? I just want you to do your job properly. We can both pretend we didn't know each other before, and that none of that past ever happened."

Looking at the slight flush rising on her cheeks, Jiang Yang knew that while her words sounded professional, her body betrayed her true state—he was well aware that she was currently in a state of high excitement.

"Also, call me President Wang from now on. Don't go throwing around my name without any boundaries. Understand?" Wang Ruolan patted his cheek as she spoke.
