Chapter 111: Li Qiang’s Attitude

Yang Fan’s words were somewhat abrupt and lacked context—intuition? Such a thing was too mystical. Both of them knew that pressing for answers was futile, so they simply resolved to live honestly, taking life as it came, ready to face whatever challenges arose.
The next day, Yang Fan made a bold decision. He ordered everyone to cook meat outside instead of inside the carriage. This was an extremely daring move, considering there were nearly a thousand mutated beasts lurking outside. Was Yang Fan deliberately courting death?
Cooking meat outdoors would definitely attract the mutated beasts due to the heat and noise. Li Qiang vehemently opposed this, and many others shared his opposition. In the carriage’s hall, Yang Fan, Fu Gaobin, and Wang Cheng faced off against Li Qiang and his men.
“Do you realize that doing this could very well lead us to be swallowed whole by those beasts?” One of Li Qiang’s men said coldly. It seemed Yang Fan’s boldness had only grown because he had not been reprimanded before. If this had been ten days ago, would he have dared to speak so freely?
This was the sentiment shared by Fu Gaobin and Wang Cheng. Fu Gaobin, with a stern face, retorted sharply, “How would you know what my boss is thinking? Frankly, if my boss truly wanted to kill you, why would he need the beasts?”
Fu Gaobin was clearly annoyed by the man’s tone and spoke without courtesy.
“Hmph, so what you’re saying is that you don’t even consider us worth your attention?” Another of Li Qiang’s men sneered fiercely. Li Qiang sat silently in the middle, expressionless.
Fu Gaobin and Wang Cheng were immediately intimidated, unsure of how to respond. After all, these men had undergone extensive training and exuded a powerful aura unlike ordinary people. Wang Cheng and Fu Gaobin relied entirely on Yang Fan’s backing, so deep down they felt somewhat weak.
Yang Fan observed the tense scene and glanced at the relaxed Li Qiang. Narrowing his eyes, he addressed the two speaking men with a calm voice: “I said it—I don’t consider you worth my attention. And what of it?” Though his tone was peaceful, there was an unmistakable air of authority that dared no one to ignore.
Immediately, everyone present, including Li Qiang, changed color dramatically. None had expected Yang Fan to be so audacious. Yang Fan himself sensed something—Li Qiang clearly had some trump card and wanted to assert dominance over him.
Though unsure what that card was, Yang Fan was growing weary of Li Qiang’s type. At this moment, trying to intimidate him? It was likely just an attempt to secure more benefits or to bring Yang Fan under his command. Yang Fan didn’t know what to say to that. He wondered if perhaps he had not been ruthless enough.
Deep in thought, Yang Fan continued, ignoring the shifting expressions around him: “Don’t assume I’m easygoing. Our relationship is purely cooperative. If you don’t cherish that, I won’t hold back.”

Yang Fan’s words rang out again. He then stood and said, “Fine. Since my decision stands unchangeable, Wang Cheng, Fu Gaobin, gather a few people and start cooking meat about ten meters outside the carriage. I’ll come over shortly.”
“Understood.” Li Qiang and Wang Cheng promptly agreed and followed Yang Fan outside. As they left, Fu Gaobin glanced coldly at the two men who had been arrogant but now looked displeased, snorted, and exited the carriage.
Once outside, Wang Cheng and Fu Gaobin smiled excitedly and went to work, while Yang Fan returned to his quarters.
Inside the carriage, the imposing Li Qiang clenched his fists, eyes coldly fixed on the spot where Yang Fan had been seated. His men were equally angry. Someone lowered his voice: “Shall we just take him out?”
The man who spoke was one who had recently been threatened by Yang Fan. His tone was icy, like a biting wind that sent chills down the spine.
“That’s right, commander. That guy is clearly up to no good. If any benefit appears, he’ll be the first to snatch it. Working with him is like bargaining with a tiger—too dangerous!”
Others nodded in agreement, egging Li Qiang on to kill Yang Fan. They all disliked Yang Fan and had forgotten how he had saved them before. But Li Qiang, as a leader, was wise and cunning beyond their comprehension.
He shook his head and said, “Continue developing the formula from the twelfth batch. Don’t provoke him for now. Endure for the time being. Once we safely reach the military base, everything will be in our hands. The only way now is to understand this thing. Xiao He, has the data been uploaded to headquarters?”
Li Qiang dismissed their assassination plan and shifted the topic to a trusted bodyguard—a bespectacled man about 27 or 28 years old. The guard nodded solemnly and replied, “Commander, the data has been uploaded. Due to the consequences of the apocalypse, we should receive a response from headquarters by today or tomorrow.”
“Good. Stay put for now and be ready to fight at any moment.” Li Qiang looked out at the snowstorm and said this quietly.

Inside the carriage, a young boy sat quietly beside Yang Fan. The boy was delicate and far more mature than other children his age. After initially asking once about his sister’s whereabouts, he never asked again. He was obedient and silent.

This boy’s name was Wang Xiaoming, also an inheritor of the post-apocalyptic system, his profession being the “Netherworld Assassin,” a B-level hidden class. Yang Fan planned to train him as a loyal warrior or a faithful subordinate, treating him like a disciple.
His talent was an extraordinary skill called “Netherworld Veil”—as long as he was not attacking, he could become invisible and undetectable unless observed by someone with a “True Hawk Eye” like Yang Fan. Otherwise, no one could sense his presence. Thus, Yang Fan sent him to spy on what Li Qiang said after Yang Fan left.
Now Xiaoming was recounting everything. At the end, a cold, ruthless glint appeared in the boy’s eyes—something no child should possess. He said, “Master, should we strike first?”
Yang Fan was momentarily stunned; he hadn’t expected Xiaoming to suggest such a thing. But soon he understood. Since the apocalypse, Xiaoming had undoubtedly witnessed many things no child should see, and with his sister’s situation, his heart had gradually hardened. Coupled with the system’s intelligence boosts and Yang Fan’s teachings, he had matured beyond his years, like a seventeen or eighteen-year-old.
Yang Fan shook his head gently and patted Xiaoming’s head. “Now isn’t the time. Make good use of the resources around us. It’s better to be thorough and a little tired than to be reckless. Understand?”
He continued imparting some cryptic advice. Xiaoming didn’t fully grasp it yet but nodded and stored the words in his heart to ponder later...
