Chapter 121: They Have Arrived
An overwhelming suction force engulfed him. At that very moment, his invisibility skill reached its cooldown, causing him to suddenly materialize right in front of a person. The latter let out a terrified shriek, "Mom!"
Before Yang Fan could even speak, the suction force magnified a hundredfold. He felt as if he had plunged into an endless void, plummeting downward as if falling through a bottomless abyss thousands of miles deep.
"This is bad." Falling into an enemy's trap meant certain death, Yang Fan thought, his expression darkening. Yet, deep down, he felt a flicker of anticipation. He wondered who could possess such immense power. If worse came to worst, he still had the Power of the Gods and his explosive talismans, so there was no need to panic.
However, the unknown is terrifying. Not just for Yang Fan, but for everyone else currently falling into the void; people began to scream in panicked terror.
"What's happening? What’s going on? Why does it feel like we're falling? Are we plummeting into some bottomless abyss?"
"Are we going to die here? We survived the zombie apocalypse, the horrific monsters, and the freezing cold outside, only to die here? No, no, no! This cannot be happening!"
"I don't want to die! I'm only twenty-two; I have so much life left to live! No, I can't just die like this. Before I go, I’m going to lose my virginity! Damn it, Xu Jiawen, I treated you like a goddess in school and after we started working, but you didn't even look at me. You made me do all the dirty work. Now, ha-ha, we’re all going to die anyway! Huzi, help me take her!"
A young man shouted this with a twisted expression, beckoning to another sturdy companion to pounce on a woman nearby. The girl, who was quite pretty, shrieked, "No! Don't! Chen Wen, how could you do this? Please, don't!"
She struggled to push away the man she had always despised—a pathetic loser who wasn't even worth being a backup—but her strength was useless. Her resistance only seemed to excite the youth further.
Scenes like this were not isolated. Among the four hundred people, chaos erupted. Aside from the dozen soldiers keeping watch outside, the rest of the military personnel, like Yang Fan, watched the unfolding depravity with cold, detached eyes.
Some soldiers, however, could not help but join in. It was a classic saying that men think with their lower halves, and facing imminent death, almost everyone felt the urge to release their pent-up desires one last time.
In reality, they were in no immediate danger. The suction force had merely anchored the bus. They hadn't actually fallen into an abyss; they had simply lost gravity. It was much like an amusement park ride, designed to induce thrills through weightlessness. Because the passengers felt that sensation, they panicked and began to scream. Fueled by rumors, chaos ensued. Even the soldiers and other inheritors of the apocalypse system were at a loss, and many of them joined in the disorder.
Taking advantage of the chaos, Yang Fan knocked out the person in front of him and slipped into the carriage. Because of the madness, no one noticed his arrival. He blended in, hoping to hide in plain sight so that if he encountered the masterminds, they would simply mistake him for another refugee. He wanted to know what these people were truly after.
After about two or three minutes, the sensation of weightlessness vanished. Yang Fan hid in a corner, enduring the foul stench, and disguised himself as an ordinary civilian. The carriage remained in total disarray. Believing they were falling into an endless pit, the people thought their end had come. Since they were going to die anyway, those with dark hearts let their inhibitions run wild. Some fought, others engaged in lewd acts—Yang Fan observed it all coldly, waiting to see who the mastermind behind this was.
In the panic, no one noticed the bus had come to a stop. Only those who had remained calm rushed to the doors. As they threw them open, a howling blizzard roared into the bus, instantly shocking many into silence with its bone-chilling cold.
"So this is where we are," Yang Fan thought, curled up in a corner of the carriage. He had a clear view of the scene outside. He remained perfectly still, having no intention of heading out just yet.
A few people who had stepped out immediately scrambled back inside, shivering and slamming the door shut. The soldiers inside quickly asked, "What's wrong? What happened? Why are you back?"
"There are two people outside... very strange people, floating in the air. It’s terrifying!" The soldiers, teeth chattering, looked ghastly as if they had seen something nightmarish.
Hiding in the corner, Yang Fan heard every word. "Two people who can fly? Floating? What could it be?" He was deeply puzzled. Suddenly, the door opened again, and everyone in the carriage held their breath, silenced by an overwhelming sense of dread.
Even those who had been fighting or assaulting others froze, not daring to make a sound.
Yang Fan watched the doorway with intense focus. He realized that they had arrived at a location he had visited before, though he hadn't searched it thoroughly. He hadn't expected the inheritor of the apocalypse system who controlled spatial energy to be hiding here.
He reminded himself to be more cautious and patient in the future; otherwise, he might overlook crucial details again. Yang Fan was the type of person who reflected on his mistakes, and it was that very quality that gave him the greatest potential.
