Chapter Sixty-Four: The Darkness Within (Part Two)
Once again, Yang Fan roasted the meat. This time, he added several more pounds, and after half an hour, two large platters were ready. He set aside a portion for Wu Liang, then divided the rest between himself and Fu Gaobin. As for the women, Yang Fan glanced at them.
They had already gone more than a day without food, some nearly two days. Each watched with hungry eyes, swallowing hard. Had they not feared that Yang Fan and Fu Gaobin might kill them, they would have seized the food without hesitation. Fu Gaobin wanted to give them something to eat, but Yang Fan stopped him. Wu Liang ate on the side, oblivious to the women’s plight.
Among the three women, finally one could bear it no longer. She choked out, “I haven't eaten in two days. Could you give me a little?” Her cheeks were flushed, making her look especially alluring. It was only hunger that drove her to speak; before the apocalypse, food meant nothing to her.
Yang Fan, sitting on the sofa, looked at this woman, then at the other two. He pointed at Wu Liang and said, “He can bring the army to protect us. Otherwise, he wouldn't even get a bite, and I wouldn’t care about him at all. This is the apocalypse. You must understand your situation. If you want something, you must pay for it. Do you understand what I'm saying?”
Yang Fan's words made Wu Liang’s face change, but he quickly continued eating, knowing the circumstances didn’t favor him and saying nothing more.
“You mean…” The woman was clever and immediately understood what Yang Fan implied.
“Exactly.” Yang Fan's answer was resolute. He then pointed at Fu Gaobin and said, “I won’t force you to do anything, but if you want something, you must give something in return. Serve my brother well, and I’ll protect you from dying here.”
Fu Gaobin was a bit of a lecher—his heart was willing, but his courage lacking. Even in the apocalypse, he didn’t dare act. Yang Fan knew he was under great pressure and needed release, so he spoke on his behalf.
“What… you…” Fu Gaobin almost spat out his food in surprise. Yang Fan’s words caught him completely off guard. He tried to deny it embarrassedly, but Yang Fan’s serious expression left him speechless.
He fell silent.
“I have no patience for this. I’ll count to three. If you agree, I’ll give you food now, and tonight you can warm my brother’s bed. If you don’t agree, finish today and then leave.” Yang Fan spoke bluntly.
The three women exchanged glances. Yang Fan began his count: “One.” Before he could finish, two of them immediately agreed. Only the third, a girl who looked eighteen or nineteen, sat silently in the back.
“I agree, I agree,” one woman said, coming to stand before him, her voice excited. The other followed suit.
Fu Gaobin clicked his tongue at the scene. Yang Fan handed meat from the platter to the two women, who devoured it ravenously, paying no attention to their manners. The third woman still hesitated, struggling with herself, and Yang Fan ignored her.
“The meat soup is ready too, drink some to nourish yourselves,” Yang Fan said to Fu Gaobin. The latter snapped out of his daze and rushed to the kitchen to bring out the meat pot, serving each a bowl. He also brought one for Wu Liang. The rich aroma made everyone’s mouth water. Yang Fan blew on his bowl and began to drink.
In the cold of winter, meat soup was a luxury. Everyone drank carefully, though Wu Liang burned his mouth in his eagerness.
Each had two bowls, and soon the pot was nearly empty. Wu Liang was the first to recline on the sofa, announcing he would rest. After a while, Yang Fan told the two women, “See if you can find some clothes to change into, then take a bath and go warm the bed. As for you, beast, handle yourself.”
Yang Fan spoke to the two women, then sent Fu Gaobin to the bedroom. Wu Liang was already sleeping soundly. Fu Gaobin didn’t hesitate; desire outweighed reason now. He told the two women to bathe, and he followed them. Before leaving, he patted Yang Fan’s shoulder and said, “Brother, thank you.”
He was still a virgin, overwhelmed with excitement. How could he not be? Yang Fan smiled, then began tidying up. He sighed. This was the darkness of human nature. He considered himself decent; others might abuse and trample women without a second thought.
Fu Gaobin went inside, and soon the sound of running water came from the bathroom—clearly, they were indulging in a bit of foreplay. Yang Fan chuckled and lit a cigarette.
After some time, Fu Gaobin emerged from the bathroom, a towel wrapped around his waist. At the corridor, he called out, “Brother Yang Fan, I’m heading in. Take your time with what’s left.” With that, he led the two freshly bathed beauties into the room, and the inevitable battle began.
Who knows if the fellow could withstand the assault of two women; perhaps he would be their plaything rather than the other way around. Yang Fan mused with a wicked sense of humor.
He continued smoking. It was two in the morning now, and Yang Fan planned to get some sleep. But at that moment, the last girl spoke.
“I… I’m willing.”
Her stomach growled audibly after her words. Yang Fan smiled, went to the kitchen, and plated the remaining meat and soup for her. He handed it over and said, “Eat. I’m not forcing you, but when necessary, your life and death won’t concern me. You should know—you have your dignity, but in my eyes, it’s worth very little.”
He gave her the food and went to his room to sleep. After hearing his words, she paused, then devoured the leftovers, tears streaming down her face. This was the apocalypse.
No one would pity you.
Yang Fan entered a room and closed the door. The moans and gasps from Fu Gaobin’s side were enticing. Yang Fan feared he might lose control, so he retreated to his room and immediately began exercising.
Basic routines: push-ups, sit-ups, squats, jogging—just to warm up. After about half an hour, Yang Fan, drenched in sweat, emerged to take a shower, only to find at his door…
