(Thanks for the reward, ??? brother...)

Now that he had subdued the two of them, everything that followed would be much easier.

Yang Fan intended to have the survivors return on their own, or escort them there himself, and then stay with the little loli. After all, he knew Li Qiang inside and out, so he was not worried that anything unexpected would happen. He only needed to think of a better way to handle things.

What surprised Yang Fan was that some people actually intended to survive on their own in the apocalypse. They did not want to depend on anyone else. Since that was what they wanted, Yang Fan had no reason to stop them. He had never planned on helping them in the first place, and he was not particularly concerned whether they lived or died.

Others, however, wanted to follow Yang Fan. Of the nearly one hundred people who had survived, seven or eight men and several women declared that they would rely on themselves. They stirred up the others, and as a result, most of the men followed them, taking quite a few women along with them.

Around a dozen people still wanted to follow Yang Fan and hoped that he would take them to Li Qiang. But someone secretly spoke ill of the two little girls, saying that if Xiao Lin and Xiao Li suddenly went berserk, everyone would die.

Because of that, some of the more timid people turned back. However, two or three girls approached Yang Fan and begged to follow him. One of them was the woman who had nearly been raped earlier. Yang Fan studied her face.

She was indeed quite beautiful. Judging by her clothes, she was rather dirty and disheveled, but compared with the other women, she was still relatively clean. From that alone, it was clear that she might have come from some prominent family and had once been extremely proud.

Having already guessed what kind of woman she was from the reactions of the others, Yang Fan looked at her impassively and said, “If you want to follow me, you can either become my subordinate and use your body to fight for me, or you can become nothing more than my dependent. You know what I mean.”

There was not the slightest trace of humor in Yang Fan’s words, nor any hint of lust in his eyes. His gaze was completely calm and detached.

The woman glanced at Yang Fan, then at the hostile looks of the people behind her. Without hesitation, she stepped behind him, lowered her head, and said, “I understand.”

She was neither sad nor distressed. All she wanted was to avoid being tortured, to have enough food, enough clothing, and the chance to stay alive. Everything else was meaningless.

With one woman taking the lead, the others followed suit. Those who spoke up were all somewhat attractive; otherwise, they would not have had the confidence to seek refuge with Yang Fan. The four or five women were all quite good-looking. Though none was as beautiful as the first, each was attractive enough to qualify as a proper beauty in a classical portrait.

As far as women were concerned, Yang Fan naturally preferred more rather than fewer. As long as he provided them with food, he could train, transform, and cultivate them, increasing all of their abilities and turning them into his subordinates. This would greatly improve their ability to survive in the apocalypse.

After taking in all five women at once, Yang Fan did not immediately put them into the Ladies’ Portrait. Once everything had been settled, he left with Xiao Li, Xiao Lin, and the women. When the remaining refugees saw him depart, they followed one after another.

They had no idea where they were. Although they had claimed they wanted to rely on themselves, they were now in the middle of the wilderness, and fear had begun to spread through them.

When Yang Fan noticed the people following behind him, he could not help frowning. He continued forward in silence, relying on the marks he had left earlier to find his way back.

Xiao Li and Xiao Lin had merely dragged the bus to a place two hundred meters away. Yang Fan had searched the area before, but he had not looked very deeply, so he had failed to notice it. Even if he had conducted a thorough search, however, he doubted he would have found the two girls.

Having mastered the power of space, they undoubtedly possessed extraordinary abilities. Only now did Yang Fan wonder whether he might already have sensed them before—or whether they had even been beside him while he searched—yet because the three of them had occupied different spatial domains, he had failed to notice them at all.

As Yang Fan was lost in thought, Xiao Lin suddenly spoke.

“Brother Yang Fan, do you dislike all those people following behind us?”

Earlier, the two girls had called him a hero. But after thinking it over, Yang Fan had decided to trick them into calling him Brother Yang Fan instead, claiming that it was necessary to prevent the forces of evil from discovering him. The two girls had agreed without hesitation.

Now, hearing Xiao Lin’s question, Yang Fan was momentarily stunned. Then he remembered the dull, simple-minded look in their eyes and calmly replied, “That’s right. The forces of evil are constantly pursuing me, and I haven’t even recovered one-millionth of my full strength. Messengers of Light and Darkness, do you have any way to help me?”

Who could not bluff? Just as in those skits where someone playing mahjong claimed to have hidden cards worth hundreds of millions, Yang Fan was merely deceiving a couple of children. He had originally intended to say that he had recovered only one ten-billionth of his power, but it sounded so absurd that he had settled for one-millionth instead.

Before this, Yang Fan had also revealed the girls’ identities. They were supposedly the legendary Messengers of Light and Darkness.

Afterward, the two girls had answered in an embarrassingly childish manner.

“No wonder I always feel like I dream of endless light.”

The other girl had said that she dreamed of darkness.

Faced with the two painfully childish sisters, Yang Fan did not know whether to laugh or cry.

But at that moment, Yang Fan was genuinely annoyed by the people following behind him. If they happened to run into Li Qiang, he truly had no idea how he would explain things. He had originally planned to put the women following him into the Ladies’ Portrait later, at which point no one would notice anything.

Now that this entire group had followed him, however, Yang Fan was unwilling to do anything too cruel. They were his fellow human beings, after all. So when he heard Xiao Lin’s question, he nodded eagerly. From the sound of it, the girls seemed to have a way to deal with the problem.

Sure enough, after waiting for twenty long seconds, Xiao Lin nodded and said, “All right. Since Brother Yang Fan wants them to leave, I’ll use the spatial power of light. Watch closely.”

As Xiao Lin spoke, her entire body began to radiate white light. Yang Fan could not help feeling astonished.

Could it be that they really were the Messengers of Light and Darkness?

Yang Fan only entertained the thought for a moment. He did not truly believe it. Light and darkness, messengers and the like—such things were nothing more than fanciful nonsense.

Yet in the next moment, Yang Fan clearly saw Xiao Lin cast a spell.

At once, everyone behind them vanished.

To be continued.
