Hearing Jin Shixun’s words, I came back to my senses. Though discomfort churned inside me, I held it back.

“Alright,” I said through clenched teeth, a streak of stubbornness flickering in my gaze as I looked at him.

“Hm, good. Now go to the pantry and prepare the tea leaves. I want to drink the tea you brew later,” Jin Shixun said indifferently, as if everything were under his control.

I bit my lip and finally turned to head to the pantry.

Upon arrival, I looked at the young ladies brewing tea and smiled, “Excuse me, which tea does President Jin usually prefer?”

“Choose whatever you like.”

Jin Shixun suddenly appeared, leaning against the doorframe, watching me coldly. His gaze seemed to pierce through everything.

After he arrived, the young ladies in the pantry all returned to their workstations, leaving only the two of us.

“What kind of tea do you want?”

“Anything.”

I took a deep breath, trying to calm myself at his curt reply.

“Alright, anything…” I frowned slightly at his words, then chose green tea.

I handed him the tea with a smile. “I have experienced the art of green tea. But beware, drinking too much can harm your health.”

Jin Shixun raised his hand slightly, accepting the cup. He took a gentle sip, the fresh aroma spreading across his tongue. A faint smile curved his lips as he praised, “Not bad. Quite fragrant.”

His gaze naturally settled on me, the smile still lingering, seeming to carry a hint of curiosity.

I quietly watched him swallow the tea, then silently picked up the tray and turned away, my heart filled with a mix of emotions.

Only then did I realize, in this vast company, I didn’t even have a desk of my own. I had no choice but to head to the Human Resources department to inquire.

I hurried into HR, eyes filled with confusion as I looked at the manager and softly asked, “Excuse me, what work am I supposed to do?”

The HR manager glanced up calmly and said slowly, “President Jin said he will personally arrange things for you.”

His answer stunned me, leaving my mind blank. I blurted out instinctively, “But he just said he wouldn’t be involved in this.”

My confusion deepened as I looked at him, silently pleading for more explanation.

A faint smile played on the manager’s lips, yet it didn’t reach his eyes. He whispered, “How would I know? But since President Jin has spoken, there’s nothing more I can do.”

His words filled me with helplessness, and I silently cursed his slyness.

Taking a deep breath, I abruptly turned and left, my steps quickening as I returned to Jin Shixun’s office.

He showed no surprise at my return, his calm demeanor as if he had anticipated it.

I stood firmly before him, eyes wide, staring hard. Through clenched teeth, I forced out, “President Jin, may I ask what my duties are? Where is my desk?”

His gaze instantly turned cold, as if a thin sheet of ice had covered it. He said icily, “I’ve told you, all you need to do is serve me well.”

My heart tightened. I drew in a deep breath, struggling to steady the storm inside, reminding myself not to confront him head-on.

Forcing a faint smile, I said, “Since you want me to do whatever you ask, don’t worry—I won’t make you angry.”

I put on a composed smile and sat opposite him, though my heart was full of bitterness and helplessness.

“Good. Since that’s settled, accompany me to the banquet,” Jin Shixun said.

His words rippled across the calm surface of my heart, stirring unease. I hesitated.

Noticing my reluctance, he raised an eyebrow and snorted, “What, don’t want to?”

I quickly shook my head, eyes flickering with fear, whispering, “No, it’s not that I don’t want to. I’m just afraid of embarrassing you.”

I knew well enough that if I refused, he would never let me off.

A mocking smirk curled his lips. “If you’re afraid of embarrassment, why bother coming to work at all?”

His words left me speechless; I could only look at him silently.

Seeing my silence, Jin Shixun slowly stood and, stepping steadily, sat beside me. He pointed at the chair opposite him. “The cloth on that desk was custom made by me. No one outside can see inside. You crawl in.”

I frowned deeply, thinking silently, this man is a madman!

I gritted my teeth and said calmly, “I won’t.”

Jin Shixun’s smile grew even more intense, but it felt utterly cold. Smiling sweetly, he said, “If you don’t, I’ll dock your salary.”

His words left me dumbfounded, burning with indignation. Frowning, I protested, “Dock my salary? President Jin, don’t you think that’s too much?”

His eyes sharpened coldly. “Do you still have the right to bargain with me now?”

Anger flared within me. Clenching my fists, I longed to splash my coffee onto his cold, stern face.

But reason prevailed. I sighed helplessly. “Fine, I’ll do it.”

Jin Shixun nodded slightly, his gaze still indifferent. “Remember, don’t disappoint me.”

Reluctantly, I crouched down and crawled under the desk.

As soon as I got in, I sensed something was off. Suddenly, it dawned on me—so this is how it is!

Jin Shixun was truly audacious; I never expected him to do something like this in his office!

Suddenly, Secretary Jiang’s clear voice came from the doorway, “President Jin, there’s a contract that needs your signature.”

Hearing this, I instinctively tried to crawl out, but Jin Shixun’s strong arm blocked me.

Then he called loudly, “Come in.”

Secretary Jiang pushed the door open and entered gracefully. She walked to the desk, respectfully placing the documents before him. “President Jin, here is the latest sales contract.”

Jin Shixun nodded slightly. “Alright, you may leave now.”

Secretary Jiang immediately turned and exited.

Lowering his head, Jin Shixun’s eyes peered through a slit in the cloth toward me. Coldly, he said, “You can choose not to serve me here, but you know what I want.”

His voice was low and icy, like a winter wind piercing straight into the depths of my heart.
