Volume One, Chapter 18: No Need to Argue, Tang Xing Has Arrived at the Airport
As soon as the words left her mouth, Su Wanyue’s face darkened severely, a flicker of stiffness crossing her features. She forced a dry laugh. “How could that be? You must be overthinking it. Sister Tang Xing is in Sanya; nothing like this could have happened.”
If it were just one person, it might be dismissed, but everyone had dreamed the same harrowing dream, each more terrifying than the last. It was truly frightening.
“Shall I make a call to check?” Su Rong offered, though she didn’t like me, after all, I was raised by her. Pretending not to worry was impossible.
Fu Hanzhou shared the sentiment.
Just as Su Rong dialed, Su Wanyue’s phone suddenly rang. I was startled to see the caller ID—Tang Xing.
A chill ran down my spine. How could a dead person be calling?
Obviously, the call was from the murderer, but why call Su Wanyue?
Before I could ponder further, Fu Hanzhou answered coldly, “Tang Xing, have you finished your nonsense?”
His voice trembled, revealing his anger.
On the other end came a voice almost identical to mine: “Husband, transfer ten million to my account!”
Upon hearing this, Su Rong and Tang Yu were furious, especially Su Rong, who had just been worried about me. She ground her teeth and trembled as she yelled into the phone, “Tang Xing, it’s you causing all this! Get back here immediately!”
No! That wasn’t me!
I tried to explain, but my mother passed through my body. Su Wanyue soothed her, “Godmother, Sister Tang Xing is prone to tantrums. Maybe she’ll come back in a few days.”
Those words poured fuel on the fire.
Su Rong ground her teeth furiously. “That wretched girl had better die out there, or I’ll make sure she suffers!”
Tang Yu sneered, “Exactly. That worthless loser has ruined our whole family’s peace while gallivanting outside!”
Hearing their collective outrage, Fu Hanzhou’s expression darkened.
He decisively sent me a voice message: “Tang Xing, come back immediately!”
But it was like casting a stone into the sea—the call ended abruptly!
Fu Hanzhou’s face turned ashen.
At that moment, my grandmother was awakened by the commotion.
“What’s going on? Has Xing’er come back?”
She anxiously looked behind the crowd, seeing nothing but emptiness.
Her heart sank.
Su Wanyue smiled and stepped forward. “You must have heard wrong.”
But my grandmother was resolute. “Impossible! I just saw her in a dream. She said she’s here at the Su family! You’re all lying to me! Xing’er! My dear Xing’er, grandmother misses you so much!”
Su Rong, Su Wanyue, Tang Yu, Tang Feng, and Fu Hanzhou all felt a chill run through them.
Especially Fu Hanzhou, whose gaze swept the hall before settling on me.
He approached, and my heart pounded wildly. Had Fu Hanzhou discovered me?
“Brother Hanzhou, shall we tell grandmother the truth?”
At these words, Fu Hanzhou frowned deeply.
Grandmother seemed to sense something, her sharp eyes piercing Su Wanyue.
“The truth? What truth?”
Su Wanyue’s eyes widened in shock, as if she’d misspoken, and she covered her mouth, looking guilty toward everyone.
“I’m sorry, Brother Hanzhou, I didn’t mean to…” she said weakly.
Fu Hanzhou, initially angry, softened upon hearing her fragile voice. He patted her shoulder gently. “I know you didn’t mean it.”
Then his gaze turned to grandmother.
His tone was icy. “Everyone was worried about Tang Xing’s safety. But she called just now, demanding money from me.”
“That’s impossible! Xing’er isn’t like that!” grandmother immediately denied.
Tears welled in my eyes. Not long ago, grandmother had offered to transfer her shares to me, which I declined.
The Su family’s assets were worth billions.
If I could resist such temptation, how could I casually ask Fu Hanzhou for money?
Grandmother’s expression darkened. “If she were greedy and vain, your mother would have taken a billion to make her leave your side five years ago. She would have gone long ago. Why wait until now?”
Everyone was speechless.
Su Wanyue couldn’t help but say, “Maybe Sister Tang Xing is after the true value behind Mrs. Fu — that’s worth more than ten billion.”
Grandmother sneered. “When the Su family speaks, outsiders like you have no right to interrupt! Old Li!”
At her command, the old butler stepped forward and slapped Su Wanyue twice across the face.
Su Wanyue’s face turned bruised and swollen, but she dared not speak.
Su Rong was heartbroken, holding her as tears flowed like rain. “Clan leader, that’s too much! After all, Wanyue calls me godmother; she’s half my daughter!”
Tang Feng also spoke up. “Clan leader, you’re treating me, the family head, with no respect.”
Seeing Su Wanyue collapse weakly into Su Rong’s arms, everyone doted on her like a precious gem. They finally understood why I had been so cruelly bullied.
Fu Hanzhou defended her coldly, “Grandmother, Wanyue is my sister-in-law. You’re showing no respect to me, Fu Shao!”
In A City, Fu Hanzhou was the golden son of the capital’s elite circles, commanding respect from every prominent family.
Now, being disregarded by grandmother, anger surged within him.
Moreover, grandmother had struck his woman; he naturally wouldn’t let it go.
Grandmother surveyed the group, all guarding Su Wanyue like treasures, and could only feel pity for me.
“I always wondered why Xing’er refused to come back. With a husband who favors concubines over his wife, biased parents, and a scheming younger sister, it’s clear she’s been bullied while I was away! And you, Su Wanyue, listen carefully: as long as Xing’er is alive, you will only ever be the mistress!”
Her words rang with unwavering authority.
Everyone present was stunned into silence.
Su Wanyue’s eyes reddened as she sobbed in Su Rong’s arms.
In an instant, all eyes turned angrily toward grandmother.
Grandmother felt as though her heart had frozen.
At that moment, she could feel my pain, my grievance, and my helplessness.
All of it transformed into aching sorrow.
“Hanzhou, tell me—do you choose Xing’er or Su Wanyue?”
At this moment, she wanted to see how much sincerity Fu Hanzhou truly held for me.
Fu Hanzhou furrowed his brow, about to speak.
Suddenly, my WeChat notified me of a message.
[Today at the airport, 1 PM. Husband, will you come pick me up?]
Those words made Fu Hanzhou’s anxious heart finally settle.
After all this, Tang Xing was truly just playing a prank.
“Everyone, there’s no need to argue. Tang Xing has arrived at the airport!”
