Volume One, Chapter Three: I Disappeared, and Fu Hanzhou Panicked
Page 1/3
Han Zhou Fu’s pupils trembled, and the cigarette butt in his hand dropped to the floor.
Ha.
I smiled. Now Han Zhou Fu should believe I might be in trouble.
He had abandoned me like a worn-out shoe before; now, who is he pretending to be sentimental for?
“Are you sure all ten fingers belong to Tang Xing?”
“Absolutely! DNA tests cannot lie!”
“It must be another prank by my sister! If she really died, who would kill her? Besides, she’s missing now; maybe she’s hiding somewhere on purpose, watching everyone worry—that’s her usual trick!”
Han Zhou Fu approved her reasoning.
A faint light stirred in his eyes: “As long as there’s no corpse, she must have disappeared on purpose!”
“Exactly!” Wan Yue Su nodded firmly. “Sister is just hiding. She’s too fond of life to get into trouble.”
“What? That money-losing woman is dead? That’s great! I was worried she wouldn’t get a divorce and would keep pestering my son! Dead is just fine!” Late-arriving Madam Fu smiled broadly, as if she had heard the best news in the world, almost ready to beat drums and ring bells.
The detective’s expression darkened: “Madam Fu, your daughter-in-law might be in danger. Isn’t it inappropriate to gloat?”
“Gloat? So what if I do? What law does that break? If you’ve got the guts, arrest me!”
Anger flickered in the detective’s eyes.
At that moment, Xiao Si Fu, dressed in a black suit, ran over, his handsome face also full of glee.
His eyes sparkled.
“Is that bad woman dead? Yay, that’s great! Dad can finally marry Aunt Wan Yue! I’m going to have a new mom!”
I was stunned!
My soul trembled uncontrollably!
Is this the mother-in-law I served for five years, the one I cared for when she was a vegetative accident victim?
Is this the son I risked my life to bear?
Looking at them, I felt nothing but sorrow.
“This kind of useless hen is better off dead, so she won’t bring shame to the Fu family! Xiao Si, go with Grandma to cut the cake!”
“Yay!”
Xiao Si Fu was overjoyed.
Han Zhou Fu, however, remained unusually calm, lighting one cigarette after another.
“Mr. Fu, when was the last time you saw Miss Tang? I heard that on the night she disappeared, you were buying the entire helicopter to shower her with rose petals. Her disappearance is quite suspicious.”
Han Zhou Fu’s face darkened.
“What do you mean? You’re implying I caused her disappearance? Just because of a few fingers, you say she’s dead? Maybe it’s another one of her tricks. I have things to do, I won’t entertain this!”
Han Zhou Fu was about to leave.
The detective stopped him sternly: “Your wife might be dead. Aren’t you at least a little worried about her?”
Han Zhou Fu sneered coldly: “If she’s really dead, let her haunt me in a dream! People like her aren’t worth grieving over!”
Han Zhou Fu returned to his room.
He smoked for a while, then casually glanced at the wedding photo in the bedroom.
A man and a woman smiling sweetly.
The woman’s smile was as sweet as honey.
A happy smile that seemed to fill the entire room.
Back then, newlywed, Han Zhou Fu hadn’t yet discovered the money missing from Wan Yue Su’s account.
He had a few genuine feelings for me.
I thought we would live a happy life together, but I never expected to die prematurely.
Han Zhou Fu looked at the cozy room, feeling increasingly agitated.

He tugged at his tie, stubbed out the cigarette, and dialed my number.
“Sorry, the number you have dialed is switched off…”
Han Zhou Fu was annoyed and wanted to take a shower.
Suddenly, he realized his clothes were missing.
Usually, I took care of his daily needs. Without me, how uncomfortable he must be.
The more he thought, the more irritated he grew. He sent me a WeChat message: [Tang Xing, I’m giving you until tonight to come back. If I don’t see you by morning, don’t bother coming back at all!]
After sending it, he opened a bottle of Romantic wine.
After a while, a message popped up on WeChat.
[Hubby, I was wrong. I’m going abroad for a trip. Send me ten million, account ending in 4482.]
Han Zhou Fu frowned.
I was shocked to see my own WeChat sending emojis.
I was stunned!
I’m already dead. Who is using my phone number to message Han Zhou Fu?
Could it be the murderer?
Yes, it must be!
The killer who murdered me.
If Han Zhou Fu checked the location now, he might find where the murderer is.
Unfortunately, he didn’t.
Han Zhou Fu coldly replied: [So it’s really you faking your death! Where are you now? Come back!]
I laughed.
How can a dead person come back?
From the grave?
Sadly, I don’t even have a grave.
[Hubby, I really was wrong. I have an urgent matter and need a large sum. Transfer ten million to account ending 4482.]
Han Zhou Fu laughed bitterly from anger. He thought the person on the other side was just after his money.
[You really overestimate yourself. Ten million? Are you worth that much?]
After that, my WeChat never sent another message.
Just like dead.
But Han Zhou Fu didn’t notice.
He only became more certain of his belief: Tang Xing was playing a prank on him again, toying with him!
He worked overtime angrily, all night until dawn.
My soul couldn’t leave him. When he worked overtime, I was forced to work overtime too.
I was really speechless.
Alive, I was a beast of burden; dead, I still had to be a beast of burden.
Damn capitalism!
Complaints aside,
Only after death did I truly see that I had made a mistake.
I was blind to have fallen for a scoundrel!
Dawn broke.
Han Zhou Fu woke up in his office, recalling last night’s chat with me.
His brow furrowed tightly!
“At this hour, she should be obediently home!”
I knew the “she” he referred to was me.
Alas, a dead person cannot return home.
Even now, he still thought I was alive.
Last night’s chat records made him firmly believe I was playing everyone for fools.
After all, if I had lost my fingers, I couldn’t have typed.
As soon as Han Zhou Fu returned to the Fu residence, he asked the cook.
“Has madam come back?”
The cook was stunned: “Madam hasn’t returned for four days! Sir, didn’t you know?”
Han Zhou Fu’s steps froze as he climbed the stairs.
Ha.
I smiled bitterly. He still thought I had come home.
Madam Fu carried Xiao Si Fu downstairs for breakfast.
Wan Yue Su followed, wearing my pink pajamas despite being pregnant, her figure graceful and eye-catching.
She wore only lingerie underneath, her snow-white belly prominent, making Han Zhou Fu’s throat burn.
He was clearly moved.
But his attention was not on Wan Yue Su; instead, his eyes swept the house constantly.
“She still hasn’t come back?”
Madam Fu was displeased. Holding Xiao Si Fu and feeding him, she scolded me sharply for being irresponsible.
“Gone four days, no child care, no cooking, no housework. My back’s about to break! Bring that money-losing woman back for two days! I’m exhausted!”
I sneered.
What a fitting punishment!
Though Madam Fu allowed me into the family back then, she set strict rules.
No one was hired to clean the entire Fu mansion.
All year round, washing, cooking, housework, bedding, giving birth, and raising children—all was done by me alone.
Now it was Madam Fu’s turn to experience the hardship.
Han Zhou Fu frowned, about to make a call.
Wan Yue Su, pale, spoke up.
“Han Zhou, I didn’t know sister was so hostile to me. I ran away for several days. It’s all my fault. I shouldn’t have come. If I’m disturbing your lives, I’ll fly abroad tomorrow and never bother you again.”
Wan Yue Su sobbed pitifully.
Han Zhou Fu was moved, but this time he didn’t comfort her. Instead, he ended breakfast early.
“I’m done eating. You all enjoy.”
He said this and walked to the garden, where he saw a large patch of sunflowers.
His expression softened.
Sunflowers, my favorite flower.
Seeing the flowers seemed to remind him of me. He unconsciously checked our chat history from last night.
Still frozen on the message: [You really overestimate yourself. Ten million? Are you worth that much?]
He poured himself a glass of Romantic wine, his face slightly flushed.
He took out his phone and called the company programmer.
“Have you found anything?”
