Although Jiang Xiaofei was surprised, he was not perplexed. After all, the previous King of the Underworld had possessed the entire Netherworld, so it was only natural that the wealth he left behind would be abundant—perhaps far more than this. Otherwise, he would hardly have been worthy of the title.

With that thought, Jiang Xiaofei continued forward.

Jun Yao, Su Muhe, and the others hurried after him.

Yet the farther they went, the more Jiang Xiaofei noticed that the number of treasures gradually diminished. In their place appeared a stone staircase leading upward, as though it were a path reaching all the way to heaven.

The sight left Jiang Xiaofei somewhat astonished, and he followed the stairs upward. Jun Yao, Su Muhe, and the others promptly followed.

As he climbed, Jiang Xiaofei felt as though he were ascending a divine platform. Beneath his feet stretched an endless ocean of ghostly energy, while the path itself seemed to have no end.

After walking for what felt like a very long time, Jiang Xiaofei finally saw a glimmer of light ahead. It appeared to be a doorway.

The door, however, was hidden within the mist. It flickered in and out of sight, drifting unsteadily.

Jiang Xiaofei was deeply surprised by the sight. Jun Yao also found it strange and said, “Why don’t we go up and take a look?”

“Very well.”

With that thought, Jiang Xiaofei swept forward and entered the doorway in a single motion. Jun Yao, Su Muhe, and the others followed closely behind.

The moment Jiang Xiaofei stepped through the door, he was stunned. To his astonishment, this was another independent space. It was clearly smaller than the one below, and the entire area was visible at a glance, much like a fairly spacious room.

Yet within that room lay mountains of ghost-soldier armor. Strange little stones were piled high in every corner, each one glowing with brilliant, variegated colors and emitting an unusual fluctuation.

Jiang Xiaofei was not the only one surprised. Jun Yao was astonished as well and said, “These must be the legendary Divine Essence Stones.”

“Divine Essence Stones?” Jiang Xiaofei frowned in confusion.

Seeing this, Jun Yao explained, “I have only heard my father mention them. Apparently, they are stones used by deities in their cultivation. With the aid of Divine Essence Stones, one can achieve twice the result with half the effort, and they can also replenish divine power. They are said to be extraordinarily miraculous. I simply never expected to find so many of them here. It seems my father truly plundered the entire Netherworld back then.”

Although Jiang Xiaofei did not fully understand what she was saying, he exclaimed happily, “That’s wonderful! With these Divine Essence Stones, we’ll be able to become deities!”

Jun Yao could not help laughing. “Dream on. Only deities can absorb the power within these stones. With our current strength, we cannot absorb them at all.”

“Even so, we can’t let them go to waste!”

Although Jun Yao had said that, Jiang Xiaofei was still delighted. He quickly took out the Heaven-and-Earth Bag that Su Muhe had given him and began collecting the Divine Essence Stones from the floor.

Jun Yao did not object. Su Muhe and the others, however, looked rather envious. Although the stones could not be absorbed, they sparkled like precious gems and would certainly make beautiful decorations. Since Jiang Xiaofei intended to keep the Divine Essence Stones for himself, they could only suppress their own little thoughts.

After carefully gathering every last stone, Jiang Xiaofei felt as though he had obtained a priceless treasure. He cautiously put away the Heaven-and-Earth Bag.

After all, these were Divine Essence Stones! Though he could not absorb the divine power contained within them for the time being, who knew whether they might prove useful in the future?

Besides, even if the stones were entirely useless to him, they were still divine treasures. If he auctioned them, they might fetch an excellent price.

Seeing the delight on Jiang Xiaofei’s face, Jun Yao smiled and said, “They’re only a few Divine Essence Stones. Look at you—you’re practically so happy that you’ve forgotten who you are.”

“Hmph.” Jiang Xiaofei shook his head. “These are stones that only immortals can possess. Of course I’m happy.”

“All right, enough about that.” Jun Yao smiled. “Let’s see whether there are any other treasures.”

“Very well.”

Hearing this, Jiang Xiaofei nodded and immediately surveyed the space. Aside from the Divine Essence Stones he had just collected, the only things remaining were the mountains of ghost-soldier armor.

Jiang Xiaofei then looked upward. There, two long swords hovered in the air—one black and one white. They emitted fluctuations similar to those of the Divine Essence Stones.

Frowning slightly, Jiang Xiaofei said in surprise, “Could these two swords also be divine treasures?”

Jun Yao was equally astonished when she saw the swords. She nodded and said, “These should be the Black and White Twin Swords my father used back then. I simply never expected them to appear here.”

“The Black and White Twin Swords?” Jiang Xiaofei frowned, utterly bewildered.

Jun Yao explained, “According to my father, the Black and White Twin Swords were forged by the Black-and-White Master. They represent yin and yang and form a paired male and female set of swords. When used together, their power is immense. Later, King Xiao obtained them by chance. Since King Xiao had already achieved perfect harmony between yin and yang, he no longer had any use for the swords, so he gave them to my father. My father wanted to master their combined technique, but because his yin and yang energies were incompatible with my mother’s, he was never able to succeed.”

“So that’s how it was.”

Jiang Xiaofei nodded slightly. His curiosity about King Xiao grew stronger. Everywhere he went, he heard that name, as though King Xiao’s reputation had been etched into everyone’s hearts.

After thinking for a moment, Jiang Xiaofei smiled. “These Black and White Twin Swords seem quite suitable for the two of us. Let’s master that combined sword technique together.”

With that, Jiang Xiaofei took down the two swords, handing the white one to Jun Yao and keeping the black one for himself.

Jun Yao did not object. After carefully putting away the white sword, she smiled and asked, “Do you truly intend to practice the combined sword technique with me?”

“Of course.” Jiang Xiaofei answered with complete certainty.

Jun Yao smiled. “But if we do this, our hearts will be bound together forever. We will never betray or abandon one another. If one of us suffers, the other will feel pain as well.”

Jiang Xiaofei waved it off. “Being bound together is even better. I couldn’t wish for anything more!”

Seeing this, Jun Yao nodded. “Very well. Once we return, we’ll practice the combined sword technique.”

At those words, Jiang Xiaofei immediately grew impatient. The power of the combined swords was immense, after all. If he could master the technique, he would possess enough strength to contend with the Netherworld.

He then turned to Su Muhe and said, “The Queen and I will return first. I’ll leave this place to you. In a while, have some people come in and move everything out. Use it to equip the Nether Abyss Army of the Underworld Bureau. As for those ghost arts, distribute rewards according to each person’s occupation and contribution.”

Su Muhe nodded solemnly. “Don’t worry. I’ll take care of everything here.”

Jiang Xiaofei nodded as well. He naturally had complete faith in Su Muhe’s ability to handle matters.

After giving Su Muhe a few more instructions, he left the underground palace with Jun Yao and returned to his room.

Once they were back, Jiang Xiaofei and Jun Yao began practicing the combined sword technique.

However, the moment they tried, Jiang Xiaofei discovered that the swords could not be combined at all. Instead, the two blades repelled each other.

Jun Yao frowned slightly. “Perhaps our method is wrong. These divine weapons possess spirits of their own. Shouldn’t we first acknowledge them as our masters through a blood pact?”

Hearing this, Jiang Xiaofei did not hesitate. He immediately bit his finger and let a drop of essence blood fall onto the black sword.

The moment it absorbed his blood, the black sword began to tremble and let out a humming sound.
