Upon hearing Jiang Xiaofei’s words, Lan Lianshuang’s face lit up with delight. “Really?”

“Of course it’s true, as long as you don’t mind the crowding,” Jiang Xiaofei replied with a slight nod.

“Alright then, I’ll get some rest. Goodnight.” With that, Lan Lianshuang hugged her small pillow and walked over to Tang Zhirou’s side, set down her pillow, and lay down to sleep.

Seeing that Lan Lianshuang hadn’t taken off her clothes, Jiang Xiaofei finally breathed a sigh of relief. After all, if there had been another temptation, he really wouldn’t have been able to resist.

But noticing that Jiang Xiaofei was still standing there, showing no intention of going to bed, Lan Lianshuang smiled and asked, “Professor Jiang, what are you thinking about? Come to bed, I’ve saved you a spot, you know.”

He glanced over and, sure enough, there was a space left for him to lie down. Jiang Xiaofei nodded slightly, “Alright, I’m coming.”

No sooner had he spoken than Tang Zhirou suddenly opened her eyes, pushing Lan Lianshuang all the way to the edge. By her actions, it was clear she intended for Jiang Xiaofei to sleep in the middle.

Lan Lianshuang was immediately displeased. “Director Tang, what are you doing?”

Tang Zhirou smiled. “He’s a man. He should learn to share.”

Jiang Xiaofei was speechless at her words and didn’t move.

Seeing this, Lan Lianshuang said, “Director Tang, Professor Jiang doesn’t want to sleep right next to you. Stop making a fuss and just sleep, alright?”

“I’ll make all the fuss I want. If he doesn’t sleep in the middle, then no one’s getting any sleep tonight,” Tang Zhirou retorted, her tone threatening to flare up.

Lan Lianshuang was left sulking, thinking, What kind of people are these, stealing what I care about?

Jiang Xiaofei just laughed. “I’ll sleep in the middle, then. It’s not like I’m losing anything.”

Neither woman replied, both turning away, sulking in silence.

Seeing this, Jiang Xiaofei smiled without saying another word and lay down. Instantly, he felt enveloped in warmth, the softness on both sides unmistakable, and the mingling scents of their different fragrances made him want to take a deep breath.

This wasn’t the life he wanted at all. He didn’t even dare to turn over, afraid that if he did, and the other rolled over too, he’d end up crushed beneath them—that really would be more than he could handle.

And so the stalemate lasted into the depths of the night. Lying between the two women, Jiang Xiaofei felt unbearably restless. He wanted nothing more than to pull them both into his arms and indulge in the inexplicable warmth, but he didn’t dare. He knew that if his wife ever found out, she’d probably come after him with a knife.

At this thought, Jiang Xiaofei mentally banished the lecherous imp that had appeared above his head, but he still couldn’t sleep despite tossing and turning.

The two women, however, slept soundly, faces flushed as if lost in some spring dream. Who knows who they were dreaming of?

Just then, Jiang Xiaofei suddenly jolted—he felt a warm, soft hand wandering where it shouldn’t, and the sensation nearly made him moan out loud.

Tang Zhirou opened her eyes and whispered with a smile, “Feels good, doesn’t it?”

“Good my ass,” Jiang Xiaofei muttered under his breath, quickly removing Tang Zhirou’s mischievous hand.

But as soon as he did, he felt himself on the verge of losing control. Embarrassed and unable to utter a sound, his face flushed red. He got up, lifted the tent flap, and hurried outside.

Watching his hasty retreat, Tang Zhirou couldn’t hold back a peal of laughter.

Lan Lianshuang awoke, frowning slightly. “Director Tang, what are you laughing about?”

Tang Zhirou grinned. “Nothing, just found something funny, that’s all.”

Lan Lianshuang felt something was off. “Where’s Professor Jiang?”

“He went out to the bathroom.”

Outside the tent, among the trees, Jiang Xiaofei swiftly unfastened his trousers to relieve himself, finally feeling at ease, almost to the point of sighing in pleasure.

Just as he was savoring that relief, his eyes narrowed sharply. Not far away, a woman was stepping out of another tent. He quickly pulled up his pants.

When he saw her face, his expression darkened with hostility—it was Takagi Qiu.

Takagi Qiu seemed to have noticed him as well. She walked straight toward him, her voice icy. “Long time no see, you man I loathe.”

Jiang Xiaofei snorted coldly. “Last time you got lucky and escaped. Since you’ve come to me yourself this time, I’ll take you down and avenge Xiao Qing.”

She laughed coldly. “You? If you want revenge, I’ll give you a chance.”

With a sinister smile, she flicked her slender hand, ghostly patterns swirling in her palm. In a flash, her form blurred as she thrust her hand at Jiang Xiaofei.

Facing Takagi Qiu’s assault, Jiang Xiaofei showed no fear. The only thought in his mind was to kill the Ghost Empress. He raised his palm, a seal of yin and yang appearing, and struck out at her.

Bang!

The force of their clash made the very air tremble.

Under the tremendous impact, Jiang Xiaofei was forced back a step. His expression shifted as he looked up, his voice cold. “Your soul power is that strong—have you regained your strength?”

Takagi Qiu laughed coldly. “Now you see what I’m capable of? To think you could oppose me—how laughably naive.”

Her eyes frosted over as she lifted her hand for another strike, clearly intent on killing Jiang Xiaofei with a single blow.

He scoffed. “Even if you’ve recovered your strength, you’re still not enough to kill me.”

“Destroyer of Souls!”

With a shout, Jiang Xiaofei formed a seal with both hands. A massive yin-yang talisman appeared before him and surged toward Takagi Qiu.

Bang!

As light exploded, the yin-yang seal broke through all resistance, striking Takagi Qiu squarely in the chest.

She shuddered, staggered back several steps before regaining her balance, and looked up, her face clouded with disbelief. “Your power has grown even stronger than before.”

Jiang Xiaofei retorted coldly, “Why shouldn’t it have? Don’t think you’re the only one who can recover—I can grow stronger too.”

“This time, I will kill you.” His gaze darkened as he formed another seal, readying the Soul Destroyer once more.

Takagi Qiu gave a chilling laugh. “If I wanted to leave, there’s nothing you could do to stop me. Just wait, Jiang Xiaofei—next time we meet, I’ll make sure you’d rather be dead.”

Her laughter echoed as her form vanished from sight.

Jiang Xiaofei’s face grew even darker. As he was about to give chase, a voice sounded nearby. “Professor Jiang, what are you doing out here? Was there a fight outside?”

It was Lan Lianshuang’s voice. Jiang Xiaofei glanced over and answered, “I just saw Takagi Qiu!”

“What?” Lan Lianshuang gasped, hurrying over. “So you fought her just now?”

“That’s right.” Jiang Xiaofei nodded. “But Takagi Qiu is much stronger now. Even without holding back, I couldn’t hurt her.”

Lan Lianshuang frowned. “Has she recovered her strength?”

“Probably not completely. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have been the one to flee just now—it would have been me. Perhaps it’s related to her recent disappearance.” Jiang Xiaofei gazed into the night sky, lost in thought.
