Volume One, Chapter One: A Marriage for the Sake of the Child!
Page 1/3
"Where are you?"
"I'm pregnant with your child!"
"If you have any conscience left, let's meet face to face!"
...
Afternoon.
Bored and killing time in the security booth, Ye Yun had just received a string of such messages while playing an online game.
He ignored them completely and instead downloaded the national anti-fraud app.
Dead scammer, you’ll never trick me out of a single cent.
"Ye Yun, you’re so young. Of all the things you could do, why be a security guard?"
Old Wang, the senior security guard, sidled over and sneered, "No decent salary, no status—just what is your plan? How are you going to buy a house, a car, or find a wife? Kid, I think you’re done for in this life."
Ye Yun replied serenely, "I think being a security guard is pretty great. It’s like retiring decades ahead of everyone else and enjoying a happy, peaceful life."
"As for houses, cars, or wives—well, isn’t it just a matter of taking action?"
Old Wang looked at him as if he were hopeless.
This kid was always blowing his own horn, his boasts soaring to the heavens. On his very first day, he’d told Old Wang he was a wealthy, handsome elite with nothing better to do, so he’d come to experience life as a security guard.
The second day, he bragged about having spent the night with some international superstar—someone as famous as Taylor Swift—who was supposedly madly in love with him.
By the third day, his claims were even more outrageous: he said he’d been a kingpin who caused storms in the international underworld, and that even the Pope in Rome would invite him for a foot massage...
Old Wang had heard braggarts before, but never anyone as shameless as this!
What he didn’t know was that the handsome young man before him had not uttered a single lie.
Just half a month ago, Ye Yun hadn’t been a humble security guard.
He was the Dark Sovereign, a name that struck terror across the entire Western underworld!
Commander of the Iron Phalanx Special Forces of China, renowned as Marshal Yun!
Because of his exploits around the globe and the sheer number of international dignitaries he had offended, his actions had caused a worldwide uproar.
Under immense pressure from all sides, the Chinese authorities had been forced to shelve their national weapon—Ye Yun.
They sent him instead to Jiangnan City, asking him to keep a low profile for a while.
A screech of brakes shattered the afternoon calm.
A luxurious silver Bentley stopped at the gate.
Old Wang’s sharp eyes caught sight of the stunning woman stepping out, and he hurried over with a fawning smile.
"Miss, are you returning home, or looking for someone?"
A woman in a flowing dress, her beauty cold and unapproachable, stepped out of the luxury car. "I’m looking for someone."
"His name is Ye Yun. He’s a complete scoundrel. Tell him to get out here and face me."
Old Wang froze on the spot. "Ye Yun? A scoundrel?"
What on earth?
Aside from being full of hot air, Ye Yun was good for nothing. How could a white swan like her be here looking for him?
While Old Wang was inwardly declaring it impossible, Ye Yun had already poked his head out of the security booth.

"Who’s looking for me? Just so you know, you’re paying for the foot massage—I’m broke!"
"If you want to hit up a club, forget it. I’ve already washed my hands of those days..."
As he joked, a sudden realization struck Ye Yun, and his heart skipped a beat.
He was done for!
Wasn’t this girl the wealthy heiress he had spent a wild night with after returning to the country half a month ago?
They had agreed to go their separate ways after their night together—so why was she here now?
"Why didn’t you answer my calls?"
"Why didn’t you reply to my messages?"
Her words were cold and accusatory.
Susan, Vice President of the Su Group in Jiangnan City—a genuine heiress of a powerful family.
Countless men idolized her as the goddess of purity, the very image of beauty incarnate.
"I thought it was a scammer trying to cheat me out of money, so I ignored it," Ye Yun replied honestly.
"With your income, who would bother scamming you?"
The cold heiress’s aura was on full display as she sneered and turned to leave.
"Security guard, get in the car. I have business with you."
Ye Yun stood firm. "Sorry, I’m on duty. If you have something to say, just say it here."
"And my mother always taught me never to get into a pretty woman’s car—it’s too easy to end up missing a kidney."
Susan turned and stared at him, expressionless. "Are you coming or not?"
"No."
"Fine. I’m pregnant. It’s your child. Are you coming with me now?"
Ye Yun’s mind buzzed at her words!
He immediately thought of those earlier messages.
Meanwhile, Old Wang, who had been eavesdropping, was so shocked his jaw nearly hit the floor.
He looked at Ye Yun in awe.
"Miss Susan, I think some jokes are better left unspoken," Ye Yun managed, his face twitching as he grew serious.
"Besides, what makes you think the child is mine?"
Susan arched an eyebrow, letting out a cold laugh. "You think I’m joking? Or that I’m looking for someone to play the fool?"
"Isn’t that exactly what you’re doing?" Ye Yun retorted.
He needed to get to the bottom of this—no way would he accept being made a father without knowing the truth!
Susan took a deep breath, suppressing her irritation, and tossed him a document. "This is the hospital report. See for yourself."
Ye Yun glanced at it and instantly felt a headache coming on.
Damn it, he really had gotten himself into this mess!
One night, and it hit the mark!
He never imagined he’d find himself in such a situation.

Seeing Ye Yun at a loss for words, Susan seemed pleased.
"Since you have nothing to say, come with me now."
Ye Yun remained motionless, prompting Old Wang to scold, "What are you standing there for? You’ve landed yourself a rich woman! With a child, you’ll be set for life, living off her—what could be better?"
Ye Yun got into the car, his voice grave. "If the child is truly mine, then I’ll take full responsibility."
"You? Take responsibility?"
Susan’s tone was icy with disdain.
"Do you even know who I am? And who are you? Just a lowly security guard making a few thousand a month."
"You might not realize just how vast the gulf is between us—it’s wider than heaven and earth."
Before Ye Yun could reply, she coldly commanded, "I’m having the child aborted. Drive me to the hospital, now!"
Ye Yun started the car and headed for the hospital, but he was deeply unsettled.
"It’s your right to make that decision—I can’t stop you," he said after a moment’s thought.
"But I want you to know, if you keep the child, I, Ye Yun, can provide for both of you. It wouldn’t be a problem."
Susan gave a short laugh, saying nothing.
But her scornful laughter said it all.
This little security guard was hopelessly delusional!
Soon, they arrived at the hospital.
Susan, however, didn’t get out of the car. She just stared blankly out the window.
"Come on, I’ll go with you for the procedure," Ye Yun said.
At some point, tears had welled in the eyes of the proud CEO.
She turned and glared fiercely at Ye Yun, her eyes red, brimming with grievance and helplessness.
"You’re truly an asshole!"
Ye Yun was bewildered—what was wrong with her now?
But he tolerated it.
After all, he was the one who had gotten her pregnant.
Susan was a strong-willed woman, not one to allow herself a moment’s weakness.
"Drive!"
She quickly wiped away her tears, her makeup once again flawless.
Ye Yun frowned. "Where to? Weren’t you going to get rid of the child?"
"I’ve changed my mind. I’m keeping the baby. But I won’t let my child be born fatherless!"
"So, let’s go to the Civil Affairs Bureau and get married!"
Ye Yun, restarting the Bentley worth over a million, nearly drove it into the nearby fountain.
The Civil Affairs Bureau?
Marriage registration?
What the hell???
