Ye Yun smiled and said, “The old gentleman is a man of passion; he knows when to hold on and when to let go.”
“That, I must say, earns my deep respect!”
Wu Tianshun spoke seriously, “A true man must always keep his word!”
“Besides, in Jiangnan City, I still hold some influence; I wouldn’t speak carelessly.”
“My young friend, please tell me your name. From now on, you will be like a sworn brother to old Wu. If you ever face difficulties in Jiangnan City, I will surely lend you my fullest support!”
Hiss!
Those around them were astonished.
Old Wu had actually humbled himself to form a sworn brotherhood with this young man?
This kid must have been blessed for three lifetimes!
Wasn’t this the beginning of a life of endless wealth and honor?
Xu Yuer was beside herself with joy. “Ye Yun, quickly thank the old gentleman!”
Yet, what happened next left everyone utterly dumbfounded once again.
“It’s just a game, no need for the old gentleman to take it seriously,” Ye Yun said calmly. “As for becoming sworn brothers… haha, better not. I’m afraid your fate wouldn’t hold up under such a bond!”
Susan nearly fainted on the spot!
How dare this brat speak such arrogant words?
Wu Tianshun had made such a generous offer; even the grandest family in Jiangnan would be overjoyed enough to throw a three-day feast.
But Ye Yun not only refused outright, he even said the old gentleman’s fate wouldn’t withstand it!
“How dare you!”
“You scoundrel, do you even know who Old Wu is?”
“One word from him can move half the city; and you have the audacity to reject him.”
“It’s over. This guy is an idiot. To have such fortune right before his eyes and not grasp it—if it were me, I’d kneel immediately and worship Old Wu as my ancestor!”
The crowd began to berate him fiercely.
Ye Yun’s behavior was simply beyond what anyone could tolerate.
Wu Tianshun’s face darkened. “Young friend, I’m of such an age and yet willing to swear brotherhood with you.”
“And you still look down on that?”
Ye Yun sighed helplessly, “It’s not about looking down. It’s just not appropriate.”
“If the old gentleman agrees, then from now on, let’s just be friends.”
Wu Tianshun took the hint and burst into hearty laughter, stepping forward warmly. “Fine, then let’s be friends.”
“When others put on airs before me, I see right through it and don’t bother.”
“But you are different, young friend. I can tell you truly have style.”
“Indeed, very impressive! It’s rare to see such character in someone so young!”
Ye Yun smiled. “Then, old gentleman, we shall meet again if fate allows!”
Wu Tianshun quickly called out, “Wait a moment. Your name is Ye Yun, right?”

“That’s a fine name. May I ask if you’re married?”
Hmm?
Ye Yun was caught off guard but replied, “Unfortunately, I just got married!”
Wu Tianshun expressed regret, “What a pity, truly a pity.”
“If you were still single, I would have married my granddaughter to you.”
“When I was young, I studied some face reading with wise men.”
“Your bearing, young friend, is extraordinary—truly extraordinary. You’re certainly no ordinary fish in the pond!”
Susan, listening nearby, felt a pang of displeasure.
But then she thought, why bother feeling jealous?
This guy was only a small-time security guard. If others coveted him, she didn’t care!
Finally, Wu Tianshun asked awkwardly, “Young friend Ye Yun, in the last horse race, I lost so thoroughly and confusedly. Could you possibly explain it to me?”
Ye Yun smiled. “That’s simple!”
“Old gentleman, the horse you bet on, number ten, is the famous Akhal-Teke from the Western Regions, right? The Rolls-Royce among horses!”
Wu Tianshun nodded. “Yes, number ten is indeed an Akhal-Teke. I’ve never lost betting on it.”
“The only time was when I lost to you!”
Ye Yun said, “Actually, you were sure to win.”
“But, old gentleman, you overlooked one small detail.”
“That Akhal-Teke was in heat.”
Wu Tianshun was puzzled, “And what of it?”
Ye Yun smiled. “Your Akhal-Teke was in heat.”
“And the horse I bet on was a mare.”
“When they came close, the Akhal-Teke got flustered, thinking only of mating, with no mind left for the race.”
Wu Tianshun was stunned, then wore a look of frustration.
He never imagined losing because of that.
He gave Ye Yun a thumbs-up. “Brilliant! Truly brilliant!”
“To think you could notice such a subtlety.”
Seeing the two converse so happily, Wu Tianshun was overjoyed.
Susan and Xu Yuer, however, felt a sense of unreality.
They had intended to bring this security guard to experience high society.
But somehow, he seemed to navigate it with ease and confidence.
After leaving the club and parting ways with Xu Yuer,
Susan said immediately, “Ye Yun, this is a tremendous opportunity you should seize.”
“If you could truly become sworn brothers with Wu Tianshun,”
“Then you’d never have to worry about anything for the rest of your life!”

Ye Yun looked disgusted. “That old geezer wants to take advantage of me. I won’t have it.”
Susan snorted coldly. “Do you think the president of the Jiangnan Antique Association, a man worth over a billion, swearing brotherhood with you is taking advantage of you?”
Ye Yun retorted, “Isn’t that exactly what it is?”
Susan held her forehead.
This extreme case—she had no idea where his confidence came from.
“Come with me to the company; I’ll get you formally onboarded!”
The Su Group was a well-known enterprise in Jiangnan City.
What people talked about most was Susan, the graceful and intelligent CEO.
Elegant, beautiful, and generous.
Most importantly, she was a bona fide super-rich woman.
Upon arriving at the group, Susan’s secretary approached with a grim expression.
“Madam CEO, the chairman wants you to come over immediately.”
Susan frowned. “What happened?”
The secretary hesitated, “It seems related to the Fang family. Quite serious. You should see for yourself.”
Susan pointed at Ye Yun. “Yu Jie, arrange a position for him!”
With that, she quickly left.
No sooner had she gone than a group strode over aggressively toward Ye Yun.
Zhao Yujie looked anxious. “Young Master Su, is there something wrong?”
The leader was a sullen-looking man, impeccably dressed but with a cigarette dangling from his lips, ignoring the no-smoking sign.
“Secretary Zhao, you don’t need to worry about him. I’ll assign him a position.”
“But...” Zhao began to protest.
The man’s eyes grew cold and impatient. “My father is the chairman of the group and the next head of the Su family.”
“I am his only son, and one day, this entire Su Group will be mine.”
“Now, can you leave?”
His tone and attitude were arrogant and overbearing.
Zhao dared not utter a word.
She silently lamented that this newcomer was doomed, having caught the attention of this devil.
Su Jian was Susan’s cousin.
The youngest son of Su Qiang, chairman of the Su Group.
He jabbed a finger into Ye Yun’s chest. “You’re the live-in son-in-law my second uncle brought in?”
Ye Yun replied coolly, “I am your father.”
