Susan frowned.

Xu Yu’er sneered, “He’s insincere? And I suppose you’re the one who is?”

She assumed that Ye Yun was simply jealous of someone else’s success, leading him to make such remarks.

Ye Yun replied, “The three glasses he drank were not wine at all, but plain water.”

“It’s quite obvious he’s just putting on a show.”

“A person like that, who acts one way to your face and another behind your back, is honestly not worth associating with.”

Xu Yu’er scoffed, “Don’t judge a gentleman by the measure of a petty man. While neither Shanshan nor I particularly like Fang Jiahao, he is far superior to you in every way. He wouldn’t stoop to such sordid tricks.”

Ye Yun said calmly, “If you don’t believe me, we shall wait and see.”

Just then, Young Master Fang, dressed in an immaculate suit and wearing a wide smile, walked over with a glass in his hand.

“Shanshan, Yu’er, thank you for coming to support me. Come, let me toast you two beauties.”

He ignored Ye Yun completely, as if he didn’t exist.

Xu Yu’er smiled, “Congratulations, Young Master Fang. Opening your own company—you are truly one of the elite young talents of our Jiangnan.”

“But strangely enough, someone who shouldn’t even be here claimed that the drink in your glass was just plain water. How utterly bizarre.”

The smile on Fang Jiahao’s face froze instantly.

He quickly recovered, explaining, “I can hide it from others, but I can’t hide it from two intelligent beauties like yourselves. You are right; it is indeed plain water.”

“I’ve been working day and night on the new company and my health has been suffering, so I dare not drink.”

What?

Xu Yu’er was stunned. Su Shan, too, cast an unexpected glance at Ye Yun. This guy was sharper than she thought; he had actually noticed that.

Ye Yun then remarked, in a flat, indifferent tone, “I’m afraid Young Master Fang’s health issues aren’t caused by overworking at his company.”

“The reason you dare not drink is purely because of excessive debauchery, resulting in severe kidney damage. If you were to be stimulated by alcohol, you could suffer internal hemorrhaging and drop dead at any moment. Am I right, or am I wrong?”

Fang Jiahao’s expression turned instantly cold and sinister as he stared at Ye Yun with a mixture of shock and suspicion.

Where did this bastard come from to have investigated him so thoroughly?

“Haha, this brother is joking,” Fang Jiahao laughed. “I am a dedicated workaholic; I have no time for such indulgences. Besides, I am already engaged to Shanshan. In my heart, she is the only girl for me from now on.”

He lied through his teeth, without a hint of shame.

Xu Yu’er was terrified, never expecting Ye Yun to dare insult Fang Jiahao so brazenly. Wasn’t this just asking for death?

“Young Master Fang, don’t pay him any mind; we don’t even know him.” She turned and glared fiercely at Ye Yun, the warning clear: she wanted Ye Yun to show some sense. If Fang Jiahao found out about his relationship with Su Shan, he would surely skin him alive.

Su Shan, however, noticed the shift in Fang Jiahao’s expression. It seemed Ye Yun had really hit the nail on the head.

A look of disgust crossed her beautiful eyes as she said coolly, “Young Master Fang, you should take better care of your health. I came here today for one other reason besides congratulating you: I want to call off our engagement.”

Xu Yu’er’s mouth fell open, “Shanshan, have you lost your mind? Stop it!”

Su Shan remained unmoved, pointing at Ye Yun, “Young Master Fang, this is my husband. We are already legally married.”

Fang Jiahao’s expression shifted from gloomy to vicious. However, he was skilled at hiding his malice. He smiled tightly, “Shanshan, I know you’ve always been resistant to me. But don’t you think it’s a bit beneath you to pull some nobody off the street to try and brush me off?”

Su Shan said earnestly, “I’m not brushing you off. Ye Yun and I registered our marriage today. Furthermore, I am already carrying his child.”

*Bang!*

The glass in Fang Jiahao’s hand was crushed to pieces by his grip. His eyes turned bloodshot, and he raised his hand, ready to slap Su Shan across the face.

He restrained himself, however, and gritted his teeth with a sinister grin, “Su Shan, it seems I’ve been too lenient and indulgent with you all this time.”

“I can pretend what you just said never happened. But this brat—I don’t care who he is—daring to have an affair with my fiancée means he must vanish.”

Su Shan warned, “Young Master Fang, don’t do anything reckless.”

“Our engagement was decided privately by our parents; I wasn’t even present.”

Fang Jiahao let out a roar, “Shut up!”

“Hmph, it’s already set in stone. Do you think those words matter now?”

“Let me tell you, you belong to the Fang family, whether you are alive or dead.”

Su Shan was furious.

Xu Yu’er quickly tried to smooth things over, “Young Master Fang, please, don’t be angry. Calm down.”

“This is your company’s gala; so many of Jiangnan’s elite are watching.”

Fang Jiahao was beyond agitated. He ripped off his tie and pointed at Ye Yun, “I can calm down on one condition.”

“I don’t care what this little rat is—he will kneel, kowtow three times, and drink three glasses of wine to me. Only then will this matter be settled. Otherwise, he won’t be leaving my estate alive.”

Su Shan said coldly, “Ye Yun may not have status or rank, but he is my man. And since he is my man, he will not be kneeling to you. That is impossible.”

Xu Yu’er was frantic, “Shanshan, stop talking! If you keep this up, you’re only making it harder for Young Master Fang to let this little security guard go.”

Ye Yun scoffed, “Wife, since we’ve said our piece, let’s go. I’d rather not stay long near someone whose lower half is already rotting away; I’m afraid of catching something.”

Watching the woman he had long desired walk away with Ye Yun, Fang Jiahao’s face twisted in rage.

*Bitch! You brought this on yourself!*

He signaled to the two large men standing nearby, his face filled with malice.

“I don’t want to see that little mongrel alive to see tomorrow’s sun.”

“Understood, Young Master Fang!”
