Volume One, Chapter 105: Marriage Can Be Used for This Too
"Your tie isn't even straight. People will laugh at you."
Before Jiang Yu could react, Su Muyu had already let go and stepped back.
Though Su Muyu appeared composed, the heat of Jiang Yu’s breath at such close distance had unsettled her own. A faint blush tinged her cheeks.
"Not bad at all!"
As if to cover her nervousness, Su Muyu gave him a thorough once-over and nodded in satisfaction, though she quickly frowned. "But this fuchsia suit is a bit too flashy, isn’t it? It draws too much attention. Try something else."
The salesgirl’s eyes widened. When Su Muyu spoke, she instinctively wanted to answer, "No, it’s fine."
But Jiang Yu’s looks overpowered her instincts.
She too wanted to see him try on more outfits—who wouldn’t want to look at a handsome man?
Jiang Yu picked a black suit from the rack and soon emerged wearing it.
The salesgirl could barely tear her eyes away.
With his cold, noble features and slender stature, he looked every bit the elegant young gentleman. If he wore a pair of glasses, he’d be the embodiment of the domineering CEO from a romance novel.
Su Muyu’s lips curved into a slight smile. "This outfit feels so mature. You’re just in your early twenties, but it makes you look like a professional man nearing thirty. Try another one."
"...Actually, I think it’s fine..."
Jiang Yu wanted to object, but seeing Su Muyu’s irresistible gaze, he could only take up the white suit and head back into the fitting room.
These big malls—every man’s lifelong nemesis!
White: a gentleman as flawless as jade, unmatched in the world.
Blue: princely and graceful.
...
No matter the color, Jiang Yu wore them all with ease.
Outfit after outfit, he changed.
Jiang Yu’s enthusiasm drained with each round.
Yet across from him, Su Muyu and the salesgirl were visibly excited!
It was expected for Su Muyu, but why was the salesgirl so eager? Wasn’t this just giving herself more work? What kind of salesgirl suggests the customer try on yet another outfit?
"Sis, I can’t do this anymore!"
Finally, when the salesgirl produced a latte-colored suit, Jiang Yu looked at Su Muyu with tearful eyes.
Su Muyu glanced at the pile of clothes stacked like a small mountain and, a bit embarrassed, said, "Alright, then."
"Ah, Miss Su, perhaps Mr. Jiang could try one more?"
At that, Jiang Yu shot the salesgirl a murderous look, but she simply stuck out her tongue playfully. "Mr. Jiang, which suit do you like best? We’ll take your measurements and custom-tailor it for you."
Before Jiang Yu could reply, Su Muyu stepped forward and picked her favorite colors. "Let’s have one of each, please."
Oh heavens!
Jiang Yu’s legs nearly gave out. Each suit cost six figures, and Su Muyu had chosen six or seven—that would push the bill into the seven digits.
An entire house back home, gone! Why?
It wasn’t easy to save up some money!
"Just these?" The salesgirl nodded, unsurprised. After all, no one who shopped here lacked money.
Su Muyu replied naturally, "Just these. The other colors aren’t nice."
"Wait!!"
As they discussed prices, Jiang Yu finally spoke up.
What was this? Who was buying these suits? Couldn’t he get a say?
Jiang Yu strode forward with determination. "Just...one is enough..."
"These all suit you, and you can wear them for other events. Let’s do one of each."
"And what if there are new styles next year?"
At the mention of new arrivals, Su Muyu paused.
For any woman, the words "new arrivals" are hard to resist.
"Then let’s buy three for now, and get more next year." Weighing it carefully, Su Muyu relented, reducing the number to three.
"Just one!" Jiang Yu said quickly. "Let’s get through the Golden Song Awards first, then come back. It takes time to tailor these. If they start all three at once and something gets delayed, it’ll be a problem."
"Alright..." Su Muyu was persuaded once more, though the disappointment in her eyes was obvious.
Jiang Yu smiled. "We’ll just custom-tailor the black suit, thank you."
Black was perfect: dignified, elegant, suitable for any occasion—even his wedding someday, perhaps...
"Mr. Jiang, please come with me for your measurements!"
"Alright!"
This salesgirl’s hands weren’t exactly clean, measuring and handling all over.
She gleefully took out her tape, carefully measuring Jiang Yu's waist, chest, and every necessary dimension.
Su Muyu watched expressionlessly from the side.
"Mr. Jiang, all done," the salesgirl said, having had her fill, grinning. "In two months, just bring the receipt to collect your suit. Please come over here to pay the deposit."
"Can I use Alipay?"
"Of course, I’ll scan your code."
As Jiang Yu reached for his phone, he suddenly felt a tug pulling him back.
"Scan this one."
"No need, I’ve got money myself..." Jiang Yu hastily refused when he saw Su Muyu holding her phone, but the next second, confronted by her cool gaze, he fell silent.
Good heavens, such a domineering lady CEO—so charming, so lovable!
Seeing Jiang Yu’s expression, Su Muyu’s lips curled upward.
As a salesgirl for such a major luxury brand, she had excellent perception and pretended not to notice, holding out the receipt. "In two months, bring this to collect your suit."
"What if I lose the receipt?" Jiang Yu asked anxiously. The suit cost six figures; even the deposit was five. If he lost it, he’d go a month without eating!
The salesgirl smiled. "That won’t happen. Miss Su’s VIP is linked to our system—the suit’s details are already recorded."
And so, two hours later, they came empty-handed, left empty-handed, with only a single receipt in Jiang Yu’s pocket.
He stared at the number printed on it.
Living off a woman’s wealth—how sweet!
"Let’s go home!"
As Jiang Yu walked ahead, he suddenly felt his sleeve tugged. Turning back, he saw Su Muyu gazing at him expectantly.
"What’s wrong?" Jiang Yu asked, curious.
"I’m hungry..."
The ice-cold goddess, the domineering CEO Su Muyu, now looked so pitiful that Jiang Yu couldn’t help but gently tousle her hair and laugh.
"Let’s go buy groceries. I’ll cook for you! And tonight is the premiere of ‘Rap in China’!"
"Mm!"
Seeing Su Muyu agree, Jiang Yu turned and strode ahead.
He didn’t notice the gentle blush now blooming across her cheeks.
