There are so many unspoken rules about walking the red carpet that no one really understands why even a mere two steps require a car ride. When the three of them stepped out of the same business van, Su Muyu and Yang Weiwei naturally flanked Jiang Yu, each linking arms with him as they ascended the red carpet.

Jiang Yu was dressed in a black suit, exuding an air of nobility and mystery. Coupled with his striking good looks, he resembled a prince. Su Muyu wore a flowing white gown, her slender figure graceful and delicate, her lips curved in a gentle smile that truly befitted the title of fairy-like beauty. Yang Weiwei, on the other hand, was clad in an elegant and alluring red dress.

This trio instantly captured the attention of everyone present. Handsome men and beautiful women drew the most enthusiastic cheers from the crowd. The throng of reporters was equally electrified, wildly clicking away with their cameras. Jiang Yu and Su Muyu had attended the same university and had been the subject of some rumors before, but why was Yang Weiwei walking alongside them?

The paparazzi smelled opportunity. Around them, fans buzzed with speculation.

“Wow, Jiang Yu actually came with both Yang Weiwei and Su Muyu. Is he really this powerful now?”
“My two goddesses! I wish I could be the hands holding Jiang Yu’s!”
“I knew about the rumors between Su Muyu and Jiang Yu, but why is Yang Weiwei part of this trio?”
“Yang Weiwei and Su Muyu are best friends. Could it be she’s here to help clear up the rumors?”
“Definitely! Look at the details—Yang Weiwei is holding tightly onto Jiang Yu’s arm with clenched fists, but Su Muyu’s hand is relaxed and natural. She’s here to support her friend.”
“That’s right, this is the Mandarin Music Awards, and Su Muyu is definitely here accompanying Jiang Yu!”
“No matter what, Jiang Yu is winning big tonight!”

Meanwhile, Jiang Yu felt a bit nervous. Anyone would be, if they were suddenly faced with a barrage of cameras inches from their face. The constant clicking and flashing of lights were relentless. “Guys, this is too much. I should’ve worn sunglasses,” he thought.

Yet, amidst this chaos, a familiar sensation stirred within him. He couldn’t help but turn slightly to glance at Su Muyu’s exquisite face. Sensing his gaze, Su Muyu also turned her head and smiled faintly at him.

“Does this feeling seem familiar?” Jiang Yu whispered, leaning closer to Su Muyu.
She pressed her red lips lightly and replied, “Yes, the graduation party.”
“Except there was a certain party crasher ruining the atmosphere back then!” Jiang Yu murmured.
“Are you saying I’m the party crasher?” Yang Weiwei shot him a sharp look.
“Huh? You heard that?”

No sooner had Jiang Yu spoken than he felt a sharp squeeze at his waist.

Damn it, who says women can’t open a drink bottle!

Suppressing the pain in his side, Jiang Yu maintained his smile. Su Muyu glanced at him amusedly and tightened her hold on his arm. Feeling the comfort from her touch, Jiang Yu chuckled softly, and the ache in his waist lessened a bit.

They didn’t linger long on the red carpet; compared to other celebrities, their pace was not just faster—it outright surpassed those who had walked before them. More astonishingly, the three of them attracted so much attention that they created a notorious “red carpet overtaking incident.”

Halfway down the carpet, ahead of them stood a group of women wearing short skirts—surely a girl group. Despite the chill of December, they were dressed scantily. It was the well-known girl group from Starry Entertainment—Hard Candy Sweet. Jiang Yu recognized them instantly because one of them was his ex-girlfriend, Zhao Yiyi.

What kind of day was this, that so many unwanted encounters kept popping up? Though Jiang Yu no longer felt anything for Zhao Yiyi, his body instinctively slowed, and his gaze involuntarily drifted to their smooth, snow-white legs. The stylists at Starry Entertainment clearly knew how to catch the eye.

Of course, it wasn’t just them; other female stars were similarly dressed in long gowns revealing ample décolletage. Such attire was truly self-sacrificing—enduring cold for the warmth of others.

After a few glances, Jiang Yu felt a sudden warmth spread through him.

“Ah!”

Just as Jiang Yu was using these scantily clad girls as his personal heat source, a sharp pain flared on the inside of his arm, nearly causing him to cry out. But remembering where they were, he bit back the yell and instead cast a wronged look at Su Muyu.

Her eyes held a faint chill.

“Was it pretty?”

That single glance had been caught by Su Muyu.

“I wasn’t looking at them, I swear. I was just feeling sorry for them, wearing such little in this cold weather with no one caring about them,” Jiang Yu said seriously, “I’m the lucky one. This morning I made you wear thermal leggings, or you’d suffer from cold knees as you get older, and that would be a real torment!”

Yang Weiwei, shocked, stared at Su Muyu. “Sister, did you really wear thermal leggings under that?”

Su Muyu smiled wryly. That morning, when she went to find Jiang Yu, he had caught sight of her slipping on her shoes in just her gown. He had insisted she put on thermal leggings.

Seeing Su Muyu like this, Jiang Yu couldn’t help but laugh softly and whispered, “You look best.”

Su Muyu’s ears flushed bright red.

“I’m not bothering with you. Let’s move on!”

“Hey, hey, slow down! I’m wearing heels; I can’t go this fast!” Yang Weiwei almost stumbled and fell. If that had happened, tomorrow’s headlines would scream #QueenOfPopFallsOnRedCarpet#.

The three walked down the red carpet amid cheers. This caught the attention of the Hard Candy Sweet girl group ahead, who turned around curiously. When they had passed earlier, the cheers hadn’t been nearly as loud.

“Wow, look! Su Muyu, Yang Weiwei, and... Jiang Yu?” one member exclaimed, and the whole group turned to look.

“Wow, it really is them! Yang Weiwei’s my idol!”

“Su Muyu is so beautiful—why is she here? Isn’t this a music awards show?”

“Jiang Yu is so handsome! He’s the hottest prodigy in the music scene. If only he’d write a song for us.”

“What are you thinking? Everyone knows the boss’s relationship with Jiang Yu—he’s not going to write for us.”

The members whispered amongst themselves, but one member, Zhao Yiyi, remained silent, her eyes filled with complexity.

She had listened to every one of Jiang Yu’s songs recently—they were beautiful. But her own life had been difficult. Though her group had debuted, her ranking was low, her fanbase smallest among the members, and her commercial performance fees the lowest. At this music festival, the other members had fans cheering for them, but she hadn’t heard a single cheer calling her name.

Meanwhile, her ex-boyfriend, whom she had once looked down on, was receiving explosive applause. How could she not regret it?

As Jiang Yu and his companions passed by the group, chatting and laughing without a glance their way, Zhao Yiyi felt her breath catch. Watching Jiang Yu’s retreating figure, a wave of resentment surged within her.

She was unwilling to accept this.

Why was he doing better after their breakup—better and better?

She had sacrificed so much, even her body, to reach where she was today!

And yet, he rose to fame so effortlessly?

Why?

Her fists clenched tightly, her perfectly manicured nails digging into her palms, drawing thin lines of blood. The searing pain shot through her, but her face remained expressionless as she stared coldly after Jiang Yu.

She would not let this go so easily.
