At that moment, the old man felt a pair of hands steadying him from behind.

Opening his eyes, he saw a young man wearing a black mask.

“Sir, you really can't afford a fall at your age—one tumble could be life-threatening!”

“Old Li, are you alright, Old Li?”

Other elderly people rushed over, their faces full of concern. The accompanying security staff squeezed in as well. “Mr. Li, are you feeling unwell anywhere?”

“No, no, I’m fine.” The old man known as Old Li looked at Jiang Yu with a kindly, squint-eyed smile, his accent thick. “Son, thank you. If not for you, these old bones of mine would have been a burden to others.”

The word “son” made Jiang Yu scratch his head in embarrassment. “Are you sure you’re alright? Should I call a doctor?”

“Don’t worry, this old fellow’s not that fragile!” the old man replied with a hearty laugh.

One of the security personnel glared angrily at the jostling crowd ahead and shouted, “This is a public place! Can you stop blocking the way and move aside!”

His booming voice caught the attention of a young woman.

“What are you yelling for? What’s wrong with asking you to wait a moment?” she retorted.

Others nearby had had enough and began to curse angrily.

“It’s been blocked for ages! Other people have things to do too!”

“Where are your manners? You almost knocked over the elderly—do you even realize?”

Instead of feeling guilty, the woman was completely unconcerned. “Well, I didn’t actually knock anyone over, did I? Nothing happened. We’ll talk if something does happen.”

Hearing this, the kindly expressions of the elders darkened.

“Young lady, if you don’t mind my saying, this is a public place. You nearly knocked us down, and you’re still talking like that. Isn’t that a bit inappropriate?”

“Old geezer, I didn’t even touch you! What, hoping to scam me for money?”

The old man was clearly angered. “Miss, I’ve never scammed anyone in my life. Not taking a penny from the public has been my lifelong principle!”

“Then why are you still yapping?” she snapped impatiently. Glancing back, she saw that the spot she’d staked out was now taken by someone else, and she instantly flared up. “This is all your fault! I lost my spot!”

As she spoke, she reached out to push the people blocking her view. “Move! You’re in my way—I can’t see my idol!”

A crisp slap rang out.

“Young lady, proving you’ve got guts is easier than you think.”

It was a man in a black mask, casually shaking out his hand.

Wu Kenan looked at him helplessly. “You’re too impulsive! How could you do that?”

“Sorry, I couldn’t hold back,” Jiang Yu replied with a touch of apology in his tone.

“That’s not what I meant. I mean, what if you hurt your hand? You should have told me—I’d have found you a tool. If Mr. Su finds out, he’ll say I didn’t protect you properly.”

Wu Kenan eyed his hand. “Do you need me to get a doctor?”

“No need!” Jiang Yu grinned. “Actually, you’re right. I should have found something to use. It really wears out your hand dealing with someone so shameless.”

“Force is reciprocal. You should always keep that in mind when you hit someone,” Wu Kenan remarked coolly.

“I’ll go make a call.”

Jiang Yu knew he was about to notify the company and prepare a PR statement.

The crowd around them was stunned for a moment, then erupted in cheers.

“Well done! She deserved that!”

“If this guy hadn’t done it, I would have. What a piece of work!”

The girl stared in disbelief. “You hit me! How dare you hit me!”

“Why wouldn’t I? I’m teaching you how to behave!”

Jiang Yu’s tone was icy. “This gentleman is old enough to be your grandfather. If your parents didn’t teach you manners, then I’ll educate you on behalf of society!”

The security guards nearby heard the commotion.

“Captain, sounds like there’s trouble.”

“Send someone to handle it.”

Three guards strode over and, without a word, moved to take action.

Jiang Yu’s eyes grew cold.

As someone who had mastered every skill, could he really just take this lying down?

Without even blinking, he executed a slick takedown.

With his left hand, right hand, and even a leg, he pinned the three guards’ arms behind their backs and subdued them in an instant.

“Ow, ow, ow!”

The guards cried out.

Jiang Yu fixed them with a stare. “You didn’t even find out what was going on before jumping in—where do you get the nerve?”

At last, the disturbance caught the attention of the main figure.

“What’s going on here?”

With a gentle push from Jiang Yu, the three guards tumbled to the ground, clutching their arms, faces twisted in pain. “That hurts!”

The remaining security surrounded Jiang Yu.

The girl, meanwhile, sat weeping into her hands.

The protagonist strode forward. “What happened here?”

When the girl saw her idol asking her directly, she stopped crying at once.

He actually came to ask me himself! She cast a pitiful look at Jiang Yu. “Huahua, it was him—he just hit me for no reason!”

The protagonist, Hua Fan, was the hottest young star of the day—outshining even Xu Kun before him.

Jiang Yu didn’t know him personally, but as someone in the entertainment world, he had of course heard the name. Lately, the man had even won the Chinese music industry’s top award with an English song.

At this, the surrounding girls exploded.

“How disgusting! A man beating a woman!”

“What kind of horrible man does that?”

“I can’t believe it—what a loser!”

Hearing his fans’ words, Hua Fan was secretly delighted. Defending fans would only bring him more attention.

His eyes flashed as he looked at Jiang Yu. “Don’t you think you owe me an explanation?”

“An explanation? For what?” Jiang Yu shot back.

“You assaulted my fan and attacked my security guards. I will pursue this matter to the end,” Hua Fan declared firmly.

As expected, the female fans swooned at their idol’s words.

“He’s so handsome! I’ve never seen an idol like him!”

“He’s the best in the world. We’ll always protect him, and he’s protecting us!”

“You can’t let him get away with this, brother!”

Jiang Yu paid no mind to these brainless remarks, his expression indifferent. “She deserved it. Are all your fans this rude?”

People in the crowd began to back him up.

“That’s right—she almost knocked over an old man and didn’t even apologize. Instead, she blamed him for being in her way. What kind of person says that?”

“Exactly! So what if you’re a celebrity? If she doesn’t apologize to this elderly man, she’s not leaving today!”

Hearing the crowd’s criticism, the girl began to look frightened, shrinking behind Hua Fan and clutching his sleeve.

A flicker of annoyance passed through Hua Fan’s eyes. He knew very well what the girl had done. But to maintain his image among his fans, he had to stand by her.

And besides, she looked pretty enough.

“My friend, no matter what, hitting someone is wrong—especially a woman,” Hua Fan said loftily. “I want you to apologize to her and to my security guards.”

“That’s right, apologize! A grown man hitting a woman—where’s your manhood?”

“Yeah, and wearing a mask like that, you can’t be up to anything good!”

Jiang Yu sneered. “I’ll apologize—but only if she apologizes to this gentleman first.”

“What the hell? How dare you talk to my brother like that!” The girl, seeing her idol being bullied, exploded. “You want me to apologize? Why should I apologize to this crippled old man? He didn’t fall, he didn’t die. Why are you acting so high and mighty? Is he your father?”

A chill crept into Jiang Yu’s eyes. “If you say one more foul word, don’t blame me for slapping you again.”

The girl shrank back, even closer behind Hua Fan.

“You’ve gone too far!” Hua Fan glared at him. “And besides, isn’t it rude to speak to others while hiding your face?”

“Too far? Rude?”

Jiang Yu gave a cold laugh, took off his mask, and revealed a striking, coldly handsome face.

“I can do things much more outrageous, much ruder than this—do you believe me?”
