Volume 1, Chapter 129: Young lady, you look rather familiar.
10 a.m.
At the Madou Sports Arena, Zhao Yiyi sat on a bench by the entrance. Staff passing by would often pause for a moment upon seeing her.
This young woman had been here for several days now. Since arriving, she had done nothing but sit on that very bench, her purpose unknown.
Zhao Yiyi scrolled through posts on the Doule platform about Jiang Yu.
Each time she witnessed Jiang Yu’s brilliance unfolding on his own, a fresh pang of regret tightened in her heart.
Had she known Jiang Yu would become what he is today, she would have never parted ways with him—no matter what.
Just then, a black minivan approached from a distance.
Hearing the vehicle’s sound, Zhao Yiyi instinctively looked up. During her time at the arena, she had developed a habit: whenever a car passed by, she would glance toward it, hoping to see Jiang Yu step out.
But each time, disappointment followed.
This time, however, upon seeing the figure emerge, she rose to her feet immediately—it was the silhouette she knew best.
Yet more than one person stepped out of the car.
There was also a woman even more beautiful than herself, exuding an aura of purity and freshness.
Seeing the two linked arms, Zhao Yiyi’s heart felt as if gripped by powerful hands, a suffocating sensation overwhelming her.
...
“We’re here. Take a look at the place where you’re about to hold your first concert.”
The car stopped at the main entrance, and the two stepped out.
Su Muyu looked at Jiang Yu with excitement. Since being together, her smile had grown more frequent.
Through the gate, Jiang Yu saw the vast venue and couldn’t help but feel thrilled.
It was so huge—it must hold tens of thousands.
Su Muyu was even more excited. “I’ll be sitting right in the front row. Oh, by the way, Weiwei and Brother Zhou called us asking for tickets—they said they want to bring friends along.”
Jiang Yu smiled at Su Muyu. Since falling in love, the once cold and distant goddess had become so lively.
“Let’s go, let’s take a look inside!” Su Muyu leaned on Jiang Yu’s arm, tilting her body slightly toward him.
“Alright.”
Just as they were about to get back in the car to enter through the backstage, a voice came from behind.
...
“Jiang Yu, I’ve finally found you!”
Hearing the voice, Jiang Yu’s smile froze. Turning around, he saw a woman heavily made up, dressed very provocatively. Her barely concealed cleavage caught his eye.
Not that he was a lecher—men always can’t resist a glance.
The woman’s face was quite attractive, though not even close to Su Muyu’s level.
Zhao Yiyi hurried forward, tears welling up, her expression sincere. “It’s so good to see you again. It’s been so long. Can we talk?”
Su Muyu instantly recognized her. She hadn’t expected Zhao Yiyi to come find Jiang Yu again, but she said nothing, only tightening her grip on Jiang Yu’s arm, as if staking a claim.
Jiang Yu looked at the woman in front of him, puzzled. “Miss, you look familiar. Who are you? Have we met before?”
“Pfft...” Su Muyu couldn’t help but laugh at that, though she quickly stifled it—not the place to laugh out loud.
Jiang Yu glanced at her curiously. “What’s so funny?”
“I just thought of something happy. Don’t mind me. Go ahead and talk to this lady.”
But Zhao Yiyi felt crushed inside. Jiang Yu’s words hit her like thunder, leaving her speechless.
She thought she had already humbled herself enough today, but she hadn’t expected Jiang Yu to say such words when he saw her.
She didn’t even ask Jiang Yu to speak kindly to her—she would have accepted being scolded.
Yet, in just a few months, he had apparently forgotten who she was.
She knew Jiang Yu well—he had a soft heart. Every time they argued before, no matter how unreasonable or how much she was at fault, a little coaxing would make him forgive her.
But this time, why was he so heartless? Why had he even forgotten her existence?
An overwhelming sense of injustice surged through her.
“Jiang Yu, I know you’re still angry with me. How could you forget Zhao Yiyi so quickly? Can’t you give me a chance? Just one chance to explain?”
At the mention of her name, Jiang Yu suddenly realized something. It had been a long time since he heard that name. He wasn’t doing it on purpose—he genuinely forgot.
After all, she was his ex-girlfriend from his previous life, and after he crossed over, they had no contact. Forgetting her was only natural.
“Oh, it’s you. Congratulations on your debut. I’ve seen your girl group’s show, it’s quite good, promising. Keep it up and work hard.”
Jiang Yu smiled kindly. After all, they were old classmates—some encouragement was only proper.
But to Zhao Yiyi, these words tore her heart apart. The tone was nothing more than polite small talk between strangers.
It meant Jiang Yu had already ignored her.
Being ignored hurt more than being insulted.
...
“Jiang Yu, what exactly is your relationship with Su Muyu now?” Zhao Yiyi looked at Su Muyu beside him, struggling to keep her emotions from breaking down.
“Can’t you see? We’re a couple,” Jiang Yu said as he shook off the hand on his arm. “She’s the only woman I want to marry in this life.”
“How could you be a couple!”
Finally, Zhao Yiyi’s emotions collapsed completely.
Jiang Yu frowned. “Are you crazy? What we are has nothing to do with you. We’re busy, so we’re leaving.”
With that, he took Su Muyu and got into the minivan.
The automatic doors slowly closed, and the car drove deeper into the stadium.
Zhao Yiyi stared numbly at the fading taillights, unable to pull herself together for a long while.
He just said they were a couple.
He just said Su Muyu was the only woman he wanted to marry.
Then, what did she mean to him?
The words Jiang Yu spoke echoed in her mind. She felt like a clown—a clown humiliated in public.
Gradually, the vacant look on her face twisted into anger. Hatred grew stronger within her.
“Jiang Yu, how can you be so heartless!”
“I didn’t want to help Li Jiang originally, but you’ve gone too far. Don’t blame me for not cherishing old ties.”
...
Inside the car, Su Muyu scolded Jiang Yu softly, “Couldn’t you have spoken more gently? After all, she’s a girl. What you said was too hurtful.”
“It’s not my words that hurt. Having people like that cling on is troublesome. Better to settle it once and for all.”
“You and your twisted logic!” Su Muyu shot him a playful glare.
“Don’t let these things ruin your mood.”
Jiang Yu smiled. “Let’s continue checking out the venue. This place is really nice!”
