Chapter 122: Fu Yang Resigns

Beside him, Lord Bear let out a cheer.
“Your Majesty! If you won’t give this to a dog, you can give it to a panda! Look, look—I’m definitely a hundred times cuter than those fellows at the Wolong Giant Panda Reserve in Sichuan Province, aren’t I?”
The shameless fat cat rose onto his hind legs, waved his furry paws, and charged into the kitchen.
“Oh my heavens! Braised beef—I love this! And boiled sliced pork! Sichuan cuisine is practically made for a panda’s stomach. Cumin lamb chops… Ow, ow, ow! Your Majesty, let go! My ear is about to come off!”
“I’ll show you what happens when you pretend to be a panda! I’ll twist those ears right off!”
The beautiful Ghost Queen and the fat cat demon immediately began wrestling in the kitchen.
The cozy scene in the middle of the night made Fu Yang grin foolishly.
This was wonderful. If only things could go on like this forever…
At the dining table, Fu Yang and Wei Ke ate a late-night meal while chatting about everything that had happened over the past few days.
Lord Bear, meanwhile, was eating on the coffee table. He had wanted to sit at the table too, but Wei Ke had sent him away with a single remark: “A cat should behave like a cat.”
She had then placed a little of every dish into a pet bowl and told him to eat over there.
Poor Lord Bear was reduced to tears, yet he did not dare protest.
He could only carry his pet bowl miserably over to the coffee table…
“Fu Yang.”
“Hmm?”
“Go to the company tomorrow and resign from your internship.”
“Huh?”
Fu Yang looked up at Wei Ke in surprise. He had expected to see a jealous, slightly fierce expression on her face, but there was none.
He had known it. Wei Ke must have a genuine reason. This was not merely about forbidding him from getting too close to Tang Li.
“Although I know you still cannot fully accept the change in your identity, you have been an ordinary person for more than twenty years. You always believed that your future would be spent as an office worker or a business elite.”
“But now, you are different. Never mind the fact that you are the only true inheritor of the Ghost Dao tradition—even your status as an external combat operative of the State Security Bureau’s Zero Group makes it difficult for you to continue living as an ordinary person.”
“Have you ever thought about this? Since you got involved in the Jiang University Forest Farm incident, withdrawing will not be so easy. Is it really appropriate for you to keep working at the company? What if the Zero Group suddenly summons you for a mission? You would have to leave whenever they called. What company could tolerate that?”

For some reason, Wei Ke suddenly abandoned her usual combination of spoiled princess and haughty queen that night. Instead, she became rational and sincere, carefully analyzing the advantages and disadvantages with him, as well as the problems he might face in the future.
The more Fu Yang listened, the more sense it made. He began to think it over seriously.
At last, he nodded and looked at her gratefully. “Wei Ke, you’re right! Perhaps the moment I began learning magic and became a Daoist priest, my life had already veered away from its original path and entered an entirely new world. I’ll listen to you. I’ll resign tomorrow. Besides, the salary from this temporary position with the State Security Bureau is more than enough to cover my expenses.”
Wei Ke nodded with a smile.
After they finished their late-night meal, Fu Yang insisted on helping Wei Ke wash the dishes and clean the kitchen.
And so…
In the kitchen, a man and a cat washed dishes together.
“Lord Bear, you’re washing way too slowly. I’ve already done this many.”
“Damn it! Fu, that’s enough! I’m a panda, you know—a national treasure! How can you bear to make me wash dishes with you?”
“Do you really find it amusing to keep fooling yourself like that?”
“All right… Even if I’m not a panda, making me wash dishes still counts as animal abuse, you know? In America, they could arrest you and throw you in prison for this.”
“Too bad we’re in China.”
The man and the cat cursed and grumbled as they tidied the kitchen.
Wei Ke, meanwhile, sat on the sofa with a broad smile, playing with her phone.
No one noticed the sly glint that flashed through her eyes.
On the screen was an electronic book. Its title was unmistakable:
How to Discipline Your Man
“Hmph! I never expected the persuasion techniques in this book to be so useful. This way, Fu Yang can stay as far away from those vixens as possible. It’s a little selfish, but I can’t worry about that anymore! He was already like this several hundred years ago, leaving an uncountable number of romantic debts behind. Does he want to carry on like that in this life too?”
With that thought, Wei Ke began to laugh.
Her bright, sparkling eyes curved into crescent moons, making her breathtakingly beautiful.
Early the next morning, Fu Yang went to Tangren Culture Company and submitted his resignation to Tang Li.
He clearly saw a trace of disappointment and reluctance flash through her eyes.
Actually, I’m reluctant to leave you too, you hot and stunning CEO… Who wouldn’t want something beautiful to look at during work? I wouldn’t even mind if you were a little fierce.
Fu Yang thought this silently to himself.

But reason told him that he could not waver.
“President Tang, I’ve already explained the reason. Given my current status, it really isn’t suitable for me to continue working like an ordinary person. I hope you can understand.”
Tang Li took a deep breath and composed herself. A faint smile appeared on her cold, beautiful face.
“You’re right. Given the current situation, it really isn’t suitable for you to remain an ordinary person. After all, you’re already a special operative of the State Security Bureau. That’s far more impressive than being an intern at Tangren Culture Company.”
Fu Yang smiled bitterly. “President Tang, don’t joke around. It sounds impressive, but in reality I’m just a temporary worker who gets stuck with the blame.”
“In any case, if someone in the business world uses some of those unorthodox, sinister tricks against me in the future, I’ll come looking for you, all right? And whenever you have time, come out and spend time with us—have a meal, chat, that sort of thing.”
“Of course. No problem at all.”
Fu Yang filled out a few departure documents, then rose and prepared to leave the CEO’s office.
Unexpectedly, his arm seemed to be caught by a pair of soft, smooth hands.
Then those slender fingers tightened, pulling Fu Yang back.
A warm, supple body carrying a fragrance almost impossible for any man to resist pressed against him.
Tang Li—the mature, sensual, icy beauty of a CEO—had actually thrown her arms around Fu Yang and hugged him tightly.
He felt something soft pressing against his chest. His heart pounded like a drum.
Damn… So big and soft. President Tang’s breasts really are exquisite. I’m practically about to get a nosebleed!
Tang Li released him, her face seemingly flushed as well. She lifted a hand to smooth back the loose strands of hair beside her ear, looking somewhat embarrassed herself. She had just been about to invite Fu Yang to a farewell meal when his phone rang.
“Sorry, President Tang. I need to take this.”
He raised the phone to his ear. Half a minute later, the color drained from Fu Yang’s face.
Seeing his brows knit tightly together, Tang Li asked with concern, “What is it, Fu Yang? Did something happen?”
“It’s nothing, President Tang. One of my roommates has been admitted to the hospital. I’m going back to check on him. We can meet up another time when we’re both free. We have each other’s contact information, anyway.”
With that, he hurried out, hailed a taxi, and sped toward the university hospital.
