Chapter Sixty-Four: The Kuman Thong and the Little Ghost
“In that case, could it be that some of the people around us in everyday life aren’t human at all, but ghosts?” Fu Yang’s imagination was running wild.
Of course, it was just a passing thought. After spending some time with Ah Huang, he had come to understand just how terrifying a being a “Ghost King” truly was. To reach such a level was to become an absolute giant in the supernatural world.
When a Ghost King appears, the world is thrown into chaos.
Even the three great heads of the Daoist sects would have to prepare themselves in earnest.
Yet now, such a “big shot” was giving him a foot massage…
Bathed in the dim, yellow light, Fu Yang looked at Weike, his eyes gentle.
In the darkness, there were foolish and malicious people hiding.
Li Fang, accompanied by a gang of lackeys and that Brother Sun, was lurking, spying on Fu Yang and Dong Weike under the streetlight, whispering among themselves.
“Brother Sun, is this Thai ghost child really that effective?”
“Of course! To tell you the truth, I’ve already used it to kill someone before. Tsk tsk, it was bloody and brutal.”
A glint of ruthlessness flickered across Li Fang’s face.
He thought to himself, “Good! That damned loser, making me eat dog shit in the KTV last time! I swear I won’t be human if I don’t get my revenge.”
Brother Sun chuckled darkly and pulled out the Thai ghost child, unscrewing the glass bottle’s cap.
A wave of putrid stench surged forth.
“Damn! This reeks even worse than shit…”
Li Fang immediately retched.
Many of the lackeys behind him joined in, vomiting one after another, filling the air with the sounds of retching.
Brother Sun looked a bit embarrassed—he’d forgotten to remind everyone to cover their noses.
He took out a needle.
He pricked his finger and let a few drops of fresh blood fall into the open glass bottle.
Li Fang watched in shock as the fist-sized, pitch-black Thai ghost child inside the bottle began to move in a bizarre fashion.
Brother Sun’s eyes turned sinister and venomous as he addressed the little ghost in the bottle, “Go! Kill that man and scare that woman!”
A faint, eerie giggle echoed in their ears, and then a shadowy, black figure shot out of the bottle and disappeared into the night sky ahead…
Looking down, the Thai ghost child in the bottle had vanished.
“Impressive! Let’s see how that damned loser deals with this. I also plan to have some fun with his stunningly beautiful girlfriend…”
Lewd light flickered in Li Fang’s eyes, and Brother Sun was eager as well. They’d already agreed they would take turns later…
Fu Yang and Dong Weike had no idea that “danger” was approaching.
“Are you feeling better?”
“Yes… a little better.”
“Then let’s go. Tonight I want to try on the clothes and bags I bought today. Haha!”
Dong Weike stood up and, hands on her hips, deliberately struck a pose of mock bravado, laughing heartily.
Suddenly, her laughter froze, her expression going blank.
Fu Yang’s heart leapt. He quickly asked what was wrong.
Dong Weike then abruptly stifled a laugh, covering her mouth.
“Who would’ve thought, a few little rats are hiding in the shadows, trying to use dark magic to control a ghost and plot against us!”
What?
Fu Yang was taken aback, then couldn’t help but laugh.
Using black magic to control a ghost—against a Ghost King?!
He truly wished he could say to the mastermind behind this: Are you really that stupid? Do your family know how dumb you are?
“Has the ghost arrived? Weike, can I use the spell you taught me to devour it?”
“No!”
“Why not?”
“I’ll explain it to you in detail tomorrow. For now, let’s see which rat is orchestrating schemes behind our backs.”
As soon as she finished, Weike casually waved her right hand and pointed toward the night sky behind her.
A rope of black mist shot out.
A few seconds later, a grotesque, infant-like monster was bound tightly by the black rope and brought before Dong Weike and Fu Yang.
It was just over a foot long, with a disproportionately large head—almost half its body. Its mouth was enormous, lined with sharp, jagged teeth; when fully open, it resembled a snake, its jaws capable of splitting apart. Its hands and feet were shriveled, but the nails had become razor-sharp, like the talons of some monstrous creature. Its torso was thin and elongated, making it look altogether reptilian…
Staring at this hideous, repulsive ghost, Fu Yang asked curiously, “What kind of ghost is this? A child spirit?”
“It’s not something from our country! This thing is called a ‘little ghost,’ a kind of black magic from Southeast Asia. It’s made by using the soul and corpse of a dead child.”
“Oh. Isn’t that the same as a Thai ghost child?”
Fu Yang suddenly understood.
He had the same notion as Brother Sun, believing these were just the common and formal names for the same thing.
But Dong Weike shook her head.
“A ‘little ghost’ and a ‘Thai ghost child’ aren’t the same. A Thai ghost child isn’t particularly evil, it’s often used to change one’s fortune. Most of the time, they’re harmless. But a little ghost is different!”
With Dong Weike’s concise explanation, Fu Yang understood.
A Thai ghost child is actually a magical vessel called ‘Guman’ used by Southeast Asian practitioners. They use a secret ritual to communicate with the spirit world, inviting the soul of a child who volunteers to become a ‘Guman Tong’ into the vessel. The vessel then gains mystical powers to protect and bless its keeper, helping them live a peaceful, prosperous life and fulfill their wishes.
But raising a little ghost is something else entirely. It’s the work of evil practitioners in Southeast Asia, who use black magic to forcibly control the souls of dead children.
These dark sorcerers often set up talismans on thresholds and wait for pregnant women to step over them, causing immediate miscarriage.
They then capture the soul of the miscarried child for their own use. Through unspeakable tortures inflicted on both the corpse and the soul, they ultimately create a ferocious little ghost.
In short, a Thai ghost child is meant to bring good luck and is mostly intangible.
A little ghost, on the other hand, is an evil “weapon” used to attack and destroy others!
The attacks of a little ghost are extremely vicious.
It is similar to certain naturally formed vengeful ghosts or water corpses, able to shift between physical and spiritual form.
So, when commanded to kill, it usually begins by tearing into its target—ripping them open and devouring their flesh while they’re still alive. Then it doesn’t even spare the soul, shredding it to pieces…
Fu Yang drew a sharp breath.
“So evil and brutal?”
He looked at the little ghost, still struggling frantically, feeling a trace of fear.
He couldn’t imagine who he’d offended so badly that they would use such a savage thing against him!
“Could it be Liu Mengshu? No, he’s powerful and, though evil, is proud of being a disciple of the Maoshan Sect, one of the Daoist giants. He would never stoop to practicing foreign black magic. Then who could it be?”
Dong Weike, meanwhile, gazed at the little ghost with keen interest, even poking at it with her finger.
Ordinary people attempting such a thing would likely have their hands bitten off on the spot!
But faced with Dong Weike, the little ghost was the one who seemed terrified, emitting insect-like chirps from its throat as it desperately tried to escape her touch.
